Little Boy was the codename of the atomic bomb which was dropped on Hiroshima, on August 6, 1945 by the 12-man crew of the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay, piloted by Colonel Paul Tibbets of the United States Army Air Forces. It was the first atomic bomb ever used as a weapon and was dropped three days before the "Fat Man" bomb was used against Nagasaki. Buster-Jangle was the first joint test program between the DOD and Los Alamos National Laboratories. 6500 troops were involved in the Desert Rock I, II, and III exercises in conjunction with the tests. The last two tests evaluated the cratering effects of low-yield nuclear devices. This series preceded Operation Tumbler-Snapper and followed Operation Greenhouse. Operation Tumbler-Snapper was a series of atomic tests conducted by the United States in early 1952 at the Nevada Test Site. The Tumbler-Snapper Series of tests followed Operation Buster-Jangle, and preceded Operation Ivy. The Tumbler phase consisted of three airdrops which were intended to help explain discrepancies in the actual and estimated blast shock wave damage noted on previous detonations, and to establish more accurately the optimum height of burst. The Snapper phase consisted of 1 airdrop and 4 tower shots intended to test various new weapons developments. A colorfilm from the early 50s that shows an US army (a viewer mentioned: marines) Atomicbomb test. This film was edited by myself and i also picked some tracks from the Apocalypse now soundtrack. For this i used a free stockfootage video from archive.org. I wanted to make this video because it shows the terrifying devastation and the senseless of building weapons of mass destruction. I don't think that there's an even more terrifying picture than the cloudmushroom of an atomic bomb, growing up into the sky.
