I was looking to upgrade mt HTPC because i just got Comcast cable. After looking at some of the reviews The KWORLD ATSC TV Stick seemed like a good fit. It's cheap, compact and supports 1080i. after i got everything set up i found out it doesn't support Comcast or any other provider that requires a cable box with a cablecard :(. I hooked up the antenna and got a few channels but i live about 25 miles outside of Kansas City and didn't see a reason to keep it for a few channels. Looks like I'll have to go with the ATI TV Wonder Digital Cable Tuner. I'd still recommend this card if you have the right set because the picture quality was pretty good on the channels i was getting in but if you have a cable provider that requires a cable card then stay clear. A side-by-side comparison of the two broadcast techniques used in Canada and the United States. NTSC, on the left, is the old analog broadcasting format now phased out in the US, but still in use here in Canada. ATSC, on the right, is the new digital standard capable of displaying a perfect picture and high definition formats through the same tv frequencies and antennae as NTSC used in the past. As Canada is in transition to all-digital, both NTSC and ATSC stations are broadcasting at the same time. This clip was recorded simultaneously from the NTSC feed (CITY Toronto) and the ATSC feed (CITY-DT Toronto) using the same antenna and split from the same line at the recording device (computer). As you can see, the new digital broadcasting technology is far superior to the old, providing a clear picture with very low signal requirements and with much less power. CITY-DT is currently broadcasting at 2kW, whereas CITY (analog) is at 310kW. The picture on the right was actually in high definition (1080i) format, but it was cropped and shrunk to SD size to compare with the analog signal. The sound used is that of the digital broadcast compressed to 2channel mp3 from 5.1 AC3. Note: The ATSC picture is perfect HD quality, it only looks bad because of youtube's encoding.

Possible because of tropospheric enhancement (or generally known as tropo) and a converter box capable of manual tuning, I was able to find some stations that are not normally received here. Captured in this video is a station in Victoria (the furthest from here) carrying a couple of other stations on its signal. Several San Antonio stations come in as well as some low power stations aimed to Austin that we don't receive here. Also, I show some stations I DX'd received last week.
