Tasmania Part 1 by The Australian Tourist

Tasmania is the only island state in Australia positioned at the bottom of the country south of Melbourne. Simply put Tasmania is a haven for Tourists. We were able to travel around in a Tasmanian camper which gave us the added benefit of having our transport, accommodation & cooking all in one. Tasmania is approximately 300km from north to south & east to west so you are going to need some transport, if you want to take full advantage of all that the island has to offer. Along our travels we saw an extreme number or bike riders peddling their way around Tasmania, after chatting with them they stated it was such a great place to cycle around as the towns aren't too far from each other. For those who don't want to brave the roads on a bike there are almost more campers then people available and every where you go there are caravan parks or hidden little places to park on the side of the road (you didn't hear that part from me). The scenery is incredible and there is great variety from the east to the west and the north to the south. You can't go to Tasmania with out seeing the Tasmanian Devil or even try find the thought to be extinct Tasmanian Tiger. If your lucky enough you may spot a Tasmanian Devil in the wild but there are several wild life parks such as East Coast Nature World that you can get up close and take picture of the little devils. Tasmania has a detailed history of convict life with one of the best places to see first hand, buildings and living conditions ...

Situated on the Timor Sea, Darwin has a population of 120900, making it by far the largest and most populated city in the sparsely peopled Northern Territory, but the least populous of all Australia's capital cities. It is the smallest and most northerly of the Australian capital cities, and acts as the Top End's regional centre. Over time Darwin has grown from a pioneer outpost and small port into one of Australia's most modern and multicultural cities. Its proximity to Asia makes it an important Australian gateway to countries such as Indonesia and East Timor. The Stuart Highway begins in Darwin, ending at Port Augusta in South Australia. The city itself is built on a low bluff overlooking the harbour. Its suburbs spread out over some area, beginning at Lee Point in the north and stretching to Berrimah in the east past Berrimah, the Stuart Highway goes on to Darwin's satellite city, Palmerston, and its suburbs. The region, like the rest of the Top End, has a tropical climate, with a wet season and a dry season. It receives heavy rainfall during the Wet, and is well-known for its spectacular lightning. Knowledge@ASB: Professor Larry Dwyer on Australia's Tourism Marketing

The latest novel push by authorities to bring more international tourists to Australian shores seems oddly timed. With the Australian dollar running at record highs, some suspect it will backfire. However, Larry Dwyer, a professor of marketing at Australian School of Business, anticipates the opposite may happen. The new marketing drive may raise the consciousness of locals to the appeal of holidaying closer to home and, with domestic holidays accounting for 75% of tourism down under, this may be just the boost the industry needs. But this is no time for complacency, Dwyer cautions. Australia must look beyond its traditional attractions and focus on promoting a range of valued experiences for travellers.
