Matthew de Zoete from Hamilton, Ontario wrote this tribute to Jack Babcock on February 18th. 2010, the day that Jack passed away. I met Matthew in June of 2010 when he performed at Artwalk in Sarnia, Ontario. It was the anniversary of D-day and he performed his song titled "Remembrance Day". We then collaborated to make a video of Remembrance Day which we presented in time for Remembrance Day in November 2010. It was at the official unveiling of that video where Matthew learned that we had had the privilege to meet Jack Babcock and his wife Dorothy. Jack and Dorothy had welcomed us into their home and they wholeheartedly supported the troop morale efforts of Hero To Hero. Matthew then played this song for us. The song reflects the loss of another generation. Dorothy Bacbock was kind enough to share some of her personal family photographs for this video. Additional photos of Jack and Dorothy are courtesy of Liz Jackson, Founder of Hero To Hero. Also included are family photographs of Matthew's, as this song is not just about Jack but also about the fact that we all lose family and friends to time and some day it will be our turn.
