YOU MUST OPEN IT UP PERIOD, Rice and such are a temp solution. There's corrosion working away on the inside and you have to stop it. Here's what you need to do. Completely disassemble the phone. Remove the main board Remove the metal covers and clean up the main board. Use either an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, or just a toothbrush and alcohol. Use a magnifying glass to see where there is corrosion. Pay attention to the LCD connector area, pins should be nice and shinny. Check around the coil area, and the components next to it. Like the 109b ic, it's the small black square next to the coil. There's three solder points on both sides. The side closest to the outside gets corrosion between them and that can cause the backlight to not work. Just because the water indicators are still white means nothing. Look on the backside of the board too. Water gets <b>...</b>

On August 6 2010 Tony Judt passed away at 62 due to the complications of the neuro-muscular disease ALS. Judt was a historian specializing in post-war Europe. But above all he was a great thinker about the political landscape we inhabit. His last will was the lecture 'What is Living and What is Dead in Social Democracy', in the fall of 2009 in New York. In this lecture Judt explains how the Western welfare state had its roots in the horrors of the first half of the last century. The years after World War II were drenched with the widely supported insight that a welfare state was needed to prevent a recurring of the wartime violence of recent decades: Europe had just experienced the bloody consequences of inequality and insecurity. But Judt also observed how these carefully constructed social arrangements had been demolished at a breathtaking pace during the last thirty years. Social-democracy suffered from its own success. Precisely the prosperity and the social peace that where its main results made people forget the reasons for the existence of the welfare state. I love to use the backlighting effect for the purity and dream like quality that it delivers every time. It allows me to create images that are as if I am experiencing my subject first hand when I look at the finished product. 1 light, a few white walls or reflectors, a medium to long telephoto lens and limited depth of field are all you need to get the job done. Well of course a beautiful subject is important as well. It also doesn't hurt that this technique can be done easily outdoors -- but that will be another lesson. FOR QUALIFIED LAPTOP TECHNICIANS ONLY: Here's a simple method you can use to build a tester to test a laptop's CCFL backlight tube or inverter board. It's very cheap and easy to make this tester, and easy to use. With this tester, you can test the CCFL backlights on most laptops, as well as test the inverter/harness assembly. This is NOT intended to test LED backlights or any backlights in large devices (such as HDTVs). Build and use at your own risk. In this video, I'll walk you through the step by step process to build both a laptop backlight tester and laptop inverter/harness tester. It should take you about 10-15 minutes (or less), though I go considerably slower in the video so you can follow the process easier. Parts Needed (if you work in a tech shop, you probably have most of these): - One CCFL/Neon "Case Mod Kit" (NOT an LED case mod kit) - One inverter board (or output socket from one) - board does not need to be working - One CCFL harness and plug (from any old laptop LCD, broken or otherwise) - 12VDC Power supply (DC - not AC), 500mA to 1A - Electrical tape or shrink tube (and heat gun or similar if you use shrink tube) - Solder and soldering iron - Multimeter or other voltage testing apparatus - Knowledge of how to solder, how to work with electronics and wiring and laptops - About 10-15 minutes of your time (if you do this sort of thing frequently, maybe about 5 minutes of your time)
