Cupcakes for Bakerella

If you haven't already, check out Bakerella's book 'Cake Pops'. Lots of good ideas, tips and tricks, not to mention cute cute and more cute! She was really nice and I hope I didn't seem as goofy as I felt :DI got the idea for these cupcakes from this: www.bakerella.com I ran into some trouble though trying to do a 'messy' cupcake. My OCD just won't allow me to be messy on purpose, strictly by accident will any messiness occur. I changed it to 'Fun, Serious, and Classic', do you know which one is which? 25 Days of Christmas Crafts: Mamegoma Cake Pops (Part II of II)

Frequently Asked Questions: 1. Who "invented" cake pops? Bakerella. She is an amazing person and blogger. www.bakerella.com I came up with the mamegoma cake pops, so sorry it's a bit messy. :( 2. Where did you buy all the cake supplies? The perishables (food items) were purchased at my local grocery or Michaels (candy coating, lollipop sticks, decorating gel and fondant. All dishware I already had or bought at Michaels. 3. Why did you add frosting to the cake? The frosting acts as glue or a "binder" so when you roll your cake into balls, it retains its shape. 4. Why did you tap your wrist after you coated the cake ball? Tapping the wrist allows you to shake off the excess candy coating (you dont want too much), but doesn't put direct movement on the cake pop and and causes it to fall off the stick. Be gentle. 5. How long will cake pops last? Refridgerate them and they will last about a week. 6. What was that weird tool you used to smash the cake into pieces? It's a pastry dough mixer, but I have found it works really well for making cake pops. You can find this in the baking utensils section of your local craft store or specialty cooking & baking supply store. 7. Do you have to use candy coating? Yes, otherwise, your cake pops will fall off the stick. You can use other colors or flavors. Chocolate cake and peanut butter candy coating is REALLY good. Or red velvet cake with vanilla candy coating. YUM! 8. What happens if I burn my candy coating in the microwave? You have to ...

Red Velvet Cake Balls

I'm an amateur baker, it's a hobby of mine. I found a recipe for Red Velvet Cake Balls on Bakerella's blog here: bakerella.blogspot.com And the recipe itself came from the Food Network here: www.foodnetwork.com I had to tweak it a little, and I glad I did. These aren't finished, tomorrow I'll be adding the chocolate and stuff and they'll be ready for consumption on Saturday, February 14th.

*EASY* Cake Pops Recipe - How to Make Cake Pops the Easy Way

How to make easy cake pops. Make cake pops the easy way with doughnut holes. Cake pops have become the biggest dessert craze, ever since a blogger named Bakerella gave this treat a memorable name. The rest is history. Starbucks has them and they are just about everywhere you can get desserts or baked goods. Making cake pops can be a bit time-consuming but I have a great short cut for you. After making cake pops the longer way, I experimented with just using doughnut holes (Dunkin Donuts or Entenmann's will both do just fine). This way of making them lets you spend all of your time on the fun part. Decorating them! Here is my video of how to do cake pops the easy way along with a few secret tips. Below the video are the recipe details. Ingredients 1 box of 25 doughnut holes (any flavor) 1 (14 oz) bag candy melts, of your choice 1/2 teaspoon shortening Popsicle sticks A flat piece of Styrofoam When ready to assemble heat candy melts in a small bowl in the microwave according to the directions on package. Mix in the shortening until you have a smooth texture that runs off a spoon. Dip the tip of a Popsicle stick into the melted candy . . . Then halfway into the doughnut hole. Lay them down on a wax paper coated cookie sheet until all the balls have the sticks attached. Place them in the refrigerator of the freezer for a minute or two so that the candy sets on the stick. Then remove them and swirl the pops gently into the melted candy and coat well. Allow them to drip for a ...

Home Baked Comfort: Sour Cherry Toaster Tarts (Or, the Best Pop Tarts You'll Ever Eat)

Watch as author Kim Laidlaw prepares just one of the delectable recipes from her forthcoming cookbook Home Baked Comfort; irresistible "toaster" style treats fresh out of the oven. This gorgeous new baking book contains beloved classics and contemporary treats, from passionate baker and food editor Kim Laidlaw and America's most revered bakeries (including San Francisco's Tartine, Minneapolis' Salty Tart Bakery, and Brooklyn's Baked) and bloggers (including Bakerella, La Tartine Gourmande, and Smitten Kitchen). Stunning, full-color photographs throughout bring it all to life. A mixture of nostalgia and fun, it is directed at both experienced bakers or anyone who might be curious about baking; there's something here for everyone. Favorites like caramel whoopie pies, sour cherry "toaster" tarts, deep dark chocolate cupcakes stuffed with marshmallow cream and glazed with ganache, and gooey s'mores brownies will take the reader back to childhood. Modern twists on classic comfort foods such as brown butter pound cake with fresh fig compote, flaky rhubarb turnovers, and crÈme brulee with caramelized blood oranges; and old family favorites like maple pumpkin pie, brown-sugar banana bread, and chocolate crinkle cookies will entice and inspire anyone to get in the kitchen and start baking. How To Make Cake Pops

Here's the vanilla frosting recipe I used (from Bakerella's book): 3/4 cup butter, at room temp 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 cups confectioners' sugar You can get the candy wafers (the coating which is melted) and lollypop sticks from Hobby Lobby in the cake decorating section. Other craft stores probably carry them also. A beginner's step-by-step guide in making Cake Pops. I used Bakerella's book for the recipe

Cake balls

Facebook: www.facebook.com Link to all my videos: www.youtube.com Please see my other videos for the recipes for the cake and buttercream. Almond sour cream is a twist on my yellow cake recipe, I used almond extract and subbed out half of the milk for sour cream. Now, to be honest, cake balls are good, but they're not my favorite, I'd rather just eat the cake :D But they're easy to make, easier to eat and everyone else seems to just love them so that makes me enjoy making them. You could decorate them some with sprinkles or non-pariels. I haven't gotten that far yet, maybe one of these days. And Bakerella, if you read this, know that'd I'd love to be at a class where you teach the art of making these :DI think I've made these maybe 5 times and only once had them turn out perfect. The cinnamon bun recipe is from Cook's Country by America's Test Kitchen and believe me, it was AWESOME! Same with the chocolate chip cookies, they turn out huge and are really good but require some extra steps. Baking isn't a problem, but I did try to frost a trial cake the other day and ow, no good. It's definitely been a test of patience, not my strong suit but God is good and He keeps working on me :D lol-I get a lot of people telling me I have a lot of patience to cake but that's just one area of my life, the whole reason I got tendinitis in the first place was my lack of patience over slowly pouring the ingredients into the mixer :D And oh, you might start occasionally hearing a musical ...
