Immensely blessed is He in Whose control is the entire Kingdom, and He has authority over every thing. He, Who has created death and life that He might test you, as to whose work, is excellent among you. And He is the Esteemed one the Forgiving. Who made seven heavens one upon the other. What difference do you see in the making of the Most Affectionate? Then look again carefully, do you see any crack? Then look again and again, the sight will return back to you defeated and fatigued. And undoubtedly, We adorned the lower heaven with lamps, and made them things to beat devils, and prepared for them the torment of blazing fire. And for those who disbelieved in their Lord, there is the torment of Hell. And what an evil end it is? When they shall be thrown in it, they will hear the braying as it boils up. It seems that it will almost burst with severe fury. Whenever any group shall be thrown in it, its keepers will ask them, 'Did no warner come to you'? They will say, 'why not, yes indeed, the warner came to us, but we belied him and said, 'Allah has sent down nothing; you are not, but in great error". And they will say, 'if we had heard or reflected, we would not have been among the fellows of the Hell. Now they confessed their sins, then Curse be the fellows of the Hell. Undoubtedly, those who fear their Lord unseen, for them is forgiveness and great reward. And whether you keep your discourse secret or disclose, He knows full well the thoughts of your breasts. It is recommended to recite Surat al-Kahf completely the night before Friday, and it is also recommended to do so Friday itself, before Maghrib time. Ibn Abidin said, �And it is best to do so early on Friday, in order to rush to the good and to avoid forgetting. � [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar, �Bab al-Jumu`ah�] The evidence for it being recommended includes the hadith related by Hakim and Bayhaqi, from Abu Sa`id (Allah be pleased with him), �Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays.� [Ibn Hajar, Talkhis al-Habir] Abu'd-Darda' reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said, "Anyone who memorises ten ayats from the beginning of Surat al-Kahf (18) will be protected from the Dajjal." [Muslim, Riyad as-Salihin by Imam an-Nawawi 183 #1012] One variant has, "from the end of Surat al-Kahf." On Saturday 14th August 2010 Qari Ziyaad Patel and myself (Abdul Ahad Miah) met Sheikh Abu Bakr Ash Shatri in Jeddah. We arrived at Masjid Al Furqan and read tarahweeh behind him. SubhanAllah it was the most beautiful, melodious and mesmerising recitation of the Quraan. Sheikh Abu Bakr Ash Shatri is one off my favourite recitors and I have been listening to the CD or audio recitations for many years but to actually read behind him LIVE in Tarahweeh and then to meet him personally afterwards was just SubhanAllah exceedingly incredible!! As a person Shiekh Shatri is such a humble and modest person. He speaks very softly but when the lips begin to move and the words of the Quraan are recited then you realise your in he presence of one of the best Quraanic recitors in the world!!! Alhamdulilah I was so privileged to meet him and many thanks to my respected friend Qari Ziyaad Patel to introduce me to him. I pray that Allah grants Shiekh Abu Bakr Shatri a long life and may he continue to recite the words of Allah in his beautiful voice and may be also benefit from his recitation. Ameen.
