Ballistic Missile Submarine

The modern nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine is one of the most complex, and without doubt the single most destructive machine man has ever created. Capable of remaining submersed and invisible for up to six months, then within minutes able to shower any landmass on the planet with multiple independently targetable thermonuclear warheads. Marrying a nearly undetectable launch platform and virtually unstoppable miniaturised warheads reentering the atmosphere at 12000 mph, each submarine can deliver enough explosive force to destroy an entire continent. www.presstv.ir -------------------- Iran mass-produces ballistic missiles -------------- Iran has mass-produced smart ballistic missiles capable of destroying naval targets, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says. Brigadier General Mohammad Ali Jafari made the remark during a news conference on Monday, IRNA reported. According to the Iranain commander, the missiles are supersonic with a speed three times more than the speed of sound, immune to interception and feature high precision systems. General Jafari went on to say that the footage of the missiles will be soon released. He said that Iran is currently producing 500-km stealth radars and is also planning to mass-produce long-range passive radars, which are stealth and have a range of 1100 km. The IRGC has been upgrading its defense capabilities to counter any possible attack, the senior commander said.

www.allvoices.com --------------- Iran's new advance surface to surface ballistic missile Qeam/Qiam 1 (Rising), has been successfully test fired. The Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Sunday that Qeam is a new class of Iranian missiles, Qeam missiles has been equipped with new technical specifications and exceptional tactical powers. The Iranian Defense Ministry started supplying large numbers of 'Qiyam (Rise) 1' high-precision ballistic missiles to the Iran's military . Vahidi said that mass-production of Qiyam 1 missiles indicates Tehran's self-sufficiency in producing different types of missiles. The very special design of the missile makes its detection by radars and air defense systems difficult, Vahidi added. According to Iranian Defense Ministry the newly produced ballistic missiles are the product of hard work and extensive research by Iranian experts, adding that they will be delivered to the Iranian Armed Forces in an official ceremony in the near future. Iranian missile Engineer told Alalam TV, these new missiles enjoys supersonic speed and cannot be tracked or intercepted by enemy," the commander said, adding that missiles can hit targets 800km away with high-precision.

www.missilethreat.com ----------------------------------- Rubin: Iran "Major Missile Power" in Region --------- With missiles that can reach every corner of the Middle East and survive preemptive strikes, Iran is already "the major missile power of the region, at least in theory," said a former head of Israel's missile defense program. "No other country in the world ... comes close to Iran in the number and variety of ballistic missiles in development or already deployed," Uzi Rubin wrote in a study published by the Institute for National Security Studies. And yet, some of those missiles' effectiveness is questionable, he noted. Rubin based his study on published materials but his background -- from 1991 to 1999 he was the Arrow anti-ballistic missile program manager -- enables him to better analyze those reports. He wrote that most of the missiles designed to control the sea, land, and air near Iran show Chinese and Russian pedigree. The Raad, apparently an advanced version of the Chinese Silkworm, is a shore based anti-ship missile whose range should be sufficient to bloc the Persian Gulf at its widest point. The Zelzal, which originally hails from China, is intended to hit hostile troops concentrated some 125 miles away. Other programs are externally similar to the old Soviet Strela, and anti-tank missiles. During naval exercises, in April 2006, Iran unveiled a rocket propelled underwater projectile and a flying boat. However, "A cursory examination of the video images ...

www.foxnews.com -------------- Does Iran Now Have Nuclear Capable Warheads? According to reports from Iran, two missile warheads with nuclear capability have been delivered to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Based on reports received by the Green Experts of Iran, the range of the missiles, produced by the Ministry of Defense Industries, has also been boosted and can now travel a distance of 2000 miles. Simultaneously, a joint military-industrial project with Iran, Pakistan, China and the Ukraine has begun to produce nuclear warheads, including the first manufactured nuclear-capable warheads. These are now in the possession of the Revolutionary Guards. The Ukrainians provided the design for the warheads, while the Chinese and Pakistanis delivered the technology, machining and tooling. The Iranian Ministry of Defense coordinated the interface with all three. Recently, the US warned the Pakistani government that further cooperation with the Iranian nuclear industries would result in various members of the Pakistani political and military ranks being added to the list of the internationally sanctioned. The US has previously sanctioned several companies from China and the Ukraine for providing material aid to the weapons of mass destruction program in Iran. Also, reports from last October revealed that the Obama administration concluded that Chinese firms were helping Iran with the improvement of its missile technology and the development of nuclear weapons, and ...

WAR WITH IRAN IS THE BEGINNING OF FULL SCALE NUCLEAR WORLD WAR 3 ----------------- globalresearch.ca ----------------- Towards a World War III Scenario? The Role of Israel in Triggering an Attack on Iran ----- Part II The Military Road Map ----- by Michel Chossudovsky ----------------- The stockpiling and deployment of advanced weapons systems directed against Iran started in the immediate wake of the 2003 bombing and invasion of Iraq. From the outset, these war plans were led by the US, in liaison with NATO and Israel. Following the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Bush administration identified Iran and Syria as the next stage of "the road map to war". US military sources intimated that an aerial attack on Iran could involve a large scale deployment comparable to the US "shock and awe" bombing raids on Iraq in March 2003: "American air strikes on Iran would vastly exceed the scope of the 1981 Israeli attack on the Osiraq nuclear center in Iraq, and would more resemble the opening days of the 2003 air campaign against Iraq.(See Globalsecurity ) "Theater Iran Near Term" Code named by US military planners as TIRANNT, "Theater Iran Near Term", simulations of an attack on Iran were initiated in May 2003 "when modelers and intelligence specialists pulled together the data needed for theater-level (meaning large-scale) scenario analysis for Iran." US Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles (SLBM)

Polaris, Poseidon and Trident I & II SLBMs. The Polaris missile was a submarine-launched, two-stage solid-fuel nuclear-armed ballistic missile (SLBM) built during the Cold War by Lockheed for the United States Navy. It was designed to be used as part of the US Navy's contribution to the United States' arsenal of nuclear weapons, replacing the Regulus cruise missile. Known as a Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM), it first flew from Cape Canaveral on January 7, 1960. Following the Polaris Sales Agreement in 1963 Polaris missiles were also carried on UK submarines between 1968 and the mid 1990s. Polaris was replaced in the US Navy by Poseidon, beginning in 1972. In the 1980s both were replaced by Trident I. The Poseidon missile was the second US Navy ballistic missile system, powered by a two-stage solid fuel rocket. It succeeded the Polaris missile beginning in 1972, bringing major advances in warheads and accuracy. It was followed by Trident I in 1979, and Trident II in 1990. The Trident missile is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) designed by Lockheed Martin Space Systems in the United States which is armed with nuclear warheads and is launched from SSBNs, nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines. Trident missiles are carried by fourteen active US Navy Ohio class submarines and, with British warheads, four Royal Navy Vanguard class submarines. www.spacewar.com ------------------ Iran's Sejil missile 'threatens Europe' ------------ Uzi Rubin, former head of Israel's ballistic missile defense program, says Iran has made a "technological and strategic breakthrough" with its Sejil-2 intermediate-range ballistic missile, which will be able to hit a swathe of European states in three to four years. That assertion, initially made to Jane's Defense Weekly and reiterated at a US Army-sponsored missile defense conference in Huntsville, Ala., on Aug. 20, intensified concerns that Iran has stepped up its drive to acquire ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. On the face of it, Rubin's comments gave weight to Israeli fears that Iran will soon pose an existential threat to the Jewish state. Israeli leaders have been pressing the United States to take firmer action to ensure that Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons and have suggested unilateral pre-emptive strikes if something is not done soon to curb Tehran. Rubin masterminded the development of Israel's Arrow anti-missile system, the top layer of the country's emerging multilayered missile defense shield, from 1991 to 1999. He said that the two-stage Sejil-2 has an estimated range of 1560 miles, not 1250 miles as previously thought, and that the successful testing of a solid-fueled missile on May 20 was a major breakthrough for Iran. This was because unlike the Shehab-3, Iran's operational ballistic missile already deployed with the Islamic ...

The US doesn't test missiles anymore, we know they work. Attack? North Korean or Chinese show of force? It could only have been launched from a nuclear submarine. How could such a sub have gotten so close to our shores? Is SOSUS still functioning? If so... a VERY quiet Russian submarine or Chinese submarine with Russian technology evaded the net. Diesel\electric IEP submarines are not an option here seeing how only nuclear subs have the range to reach us. I think this is a failed North Korean Attack or Russian show of force. THIS IS NOT one of ours.
