Pakistan Continues to target Baloch activists
Pakistan, September 19: Pakistan's spy agencies and security forces continue targeting political activists who want an independent Balochistan. In August 2011, Pakistan's security forces twice raided the house of Former Balochistan chief minister Mir Humayun Marri. Backed by the police, they planted arms and ammunition at his farmhouse as a part of bigger plot to kill him. While addressing the media Marri said the raids were a clear message that the security forces and the establishment could kill or arrest anyone in Balochistan in broad daylight without any fear of being held accountable. Marri is the son-in-law of Nawab Akbar Bugti, the leader of the Bugti tribe killed by Pakistani security forces in 2006.

The Balochistan conflict is an ongoing conflict between Baloch nationalists and the Government of Pakistan over Balochistan, the country's largest province. Recently, separatists have also clashed with Iran over its respective Baloch region, which borders Pakistan. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) The Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) Baloch Republican Army are freedom movement group based in Balochistan, a mountainous region within southern Iran and Pakistan. The organization is a participant in the Balochistan conflict and strives to establish an independent state of Balochistan, free of Pakistani and Iranian rule. The Baloch Liberation Army became publicly known during the summer of 2000, after it claimed credit for a series of bombings of attacks on Pakistani authorities. The Baloch mainly inhabit the Pakistan Iran and Afghanistan. Many of the rest live in Turkmenistan, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and in some parts of Africa, namely Kenya, and Tanzania (Tabora has a large community). Small communities of Baluch people also live in Europe (particularly Sweden) and in Perth, Australia, where they arrived in the 19th century. A significant number of Baloch people also live in Sindh and South Punjab in Pakistan. The Baloch people mainly speak Balochi, which is a branch of the Iranian languages, and more specifically of the North-western Iranian languages, that is highly influenced by that of Mesopotamia and shares similarities with Kurdish and other languages of the region. Two more bodies of Baloch missing persons found - Shaheed Qayyum Baloch and Shaheed Jameel Yaqoob
Pakistan's spy agencies tortured to death another two Baloch missing persons whose bodies were found from the Herrnok area, around 40 kilometres away from Turbat city, on Thursday morning. The incident triggered violence in Awaran, Mashkey and Turbat where two government offices and a Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) office were set on fire. According to sources, a passer-by spotted the bodies and informed the Turbat Levies Thana. Levies official rushed to the spot and took the bodies to the Civil Hospital Turbat, where they were identified as comrade Abdul Qayyum, leader of the Baloch Student Organization (BSO-Azad) in Gwadar, and Jamil Yaqoob, a member of the Turbat zone of Balochistan National Party (BNP -Mengal). Hospital sources said comrade Qayyum received five bullets in his upper torso while Jamil Ahmed received three bullet wounds.

Two more bullet riddled bodies of illegally detained Baloch youth have been found in Windar area near Hub industrial town of Balochistan. The victims have been identified as Arif Noor Baloch and Mohammad Nawaz Marri, both the youth were abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies. According to details the bodies of of Arif Noor S/o Noor Mohammad Baloch abducted on 31 of October 2010 from his flat in Karachi. It must be recalled that Arif Noor Baloch, an employee of GDA (Gwadar Development Authority), was abducted in presence of his mother, sister and other family members by Karachi police and Intelligence agencies. Sources reported that Mr Arif Noor's body has been shifted to Gwadar [his ancestor town] for his burial. The family of Mr Baloch has also gone to Gawadar to pay their last respects to the beloved son of Balochistan. They have decided to bury Arif in his native town of Nalent, Balochistan. The second body was of Mohammad Nawaz Marri found just inches away from Arif Noor Baloch's body. His body also bore marks of extreme torture and mistreatment and had bullet wound in his head and upper torso. Nawaz Marri who was a labourer by profession had been abducted on January, 5, 2011 from near Lasbella while he was returning to his home from work. Source close to him say that he was the only sole bread earner of the family.
