UPDATE: Levon Helm is reportedly dead after a battle with cancer at the age of 71. www.spinner.com Fans and musicians around the globe are sending positive vibes toward The Band's Levon Helm, after his family announced via the legendary drummer's website that he was losing a battle to cancer. Helm—whose no-trappings tenor can be heard on some of The Band's biggest hits, like "The Weight" and "Up On Cripple Creek"—was first diagnosed with throat cancer a decade ago, for which he went under intensive radiation treatments. But the musician continued to perform, host events and record bands at his studio in Woodstock, NY. He also appeared in films over the years, including The Right Stuff and Coal Miner's Daughter, playing the father of country music star Loretta Lynn. A message from Helm's family said "Please send your prayers and love to him as he makes his way through this part of his journey." Many fans are doing just that on Twitter today, by sharing links to clips of his music.

Shruti (Anushka Sharma) is a 20-something no-nonsense girl from a middle class Delhi household. Focused and determined with preplanned ambitions, her goals in life are well laid out by the time she reaches her final year of college. Bittoo (Ranveer Singh), on the other hand, has no real aim in life. As a final year college student of Delhi University, he whiles away his life having fun with his buddies, barely scraping through his exams. A chance and inopportune meeting (or as you would call it, fate) brings the two of them together on a tumultuous journey where they become partners in their very own, "Wedding planning ka bijness". The rules however, are clear: "Jisse vyapaar karo, usse kabhi na pyaar karo" (Don't mix business with pleasure). Together, their friendship and business, enters the ups and downs of the lavish Delhi weddings. Those who know me will know that I am somewhat obsessive about my performances and music that I am a part of, so we did MANY takes, since I really wanted to get it right :) This was obviously the last take, so when we finally nailed it and I knew we wouldn't have to do another take.. I was happy. Very happy. This performance is taken out of the Cobus Method, which is a product I have been working on, focusing on how to play drums by ear. The section that this performance is featured in covers things like writing with a band, where we filmed the whoooole writing process.. from when the first riff was pitched, to choosing the bpm, to doing the arrangement, working out parts, making jokes, mocking each other.. you know, normal band stuff. We wrote and recorded 5 completely original songs, all in very different styles. It shows a very VERY practical use of the skill of being able to play by ear, writing new drum parts, etc. This was SUCH a freakin incredible experience, it feels awesome to have this captured like this for other people to see how it works when bands write original material, and <b>...</b>

I saw this site posted on boingboing.net: lawgeek.typepad.com It is a collection of youtube videos by kids teaching kids how to cheat on exams. The band are made from old junk and discarded electronics and are controlled by a 15 year old computer salvaged from a vending machine. All songs are original and the instruments standard except for a few drill holes and some motors. They have played heaps of live gigs in New Zealand and also ventured to Europe twice for some shows there.
