Review: Rogue LX200B Despite the lack of reviews, I decided to purchase this item because of cost and functionality and my need for a bass. I want to help anyone else make an informed decision so here's my honest review: FIRST IMPRESSION: Beautiful...light...the black paint actually has a wierd (and somewhat hard to see) sparkle to it. Nothing distracting or even noticable from a distance...but it does add a bit of "hey...look at that!" Don't worry, it's not like a carnival car or anything like that...just a mild bit of glitter to it. The finish was flawless and the feel seemed sturdy. As light as it was, I was afraid (unneccessarily) that it wouldn't sound very thick. The body design is SWEET...but the acgtion seemed a bit high to me...I will be fixing that soon. DEFINITELY NOT A DEAL BREAKER! HOW I CAME TO OWN THIS: Checking around for a replacement to my Ibanez GSR200 (the perfect bass, IN MY OWN HUMBLE OPINION). This bass had the same pick up configuration but was $100 cheaper. I originally wanted to pick up the Ibanez and get the Rogue 5 string and the Rogue Fretless as back ups...but when my money cleared up enough to make a purchase, I only had enough to pick up 1 or the other. KG is a German manufacturer of musical instruments, with one division that manufactures guitars and basses, and another that manufactures other string instruments. Much of Höfner's popularity is attributed to Paul McCartney's use of the Höfner 500/1 bass throughout his career. This violin-shaped model is commonly referred to as the "Beatle bass." The company was made famous through its association with The Beatles, principally through their Höfner 500/1 model hollow-body electric bass, first manufactured in 1956. Paul McCartney played two left-handed 500/1 basses during most of the group's career, one from 1961 with the pickups mounted close together towards the neck, and a 1963 model, with the second pickup mounted closer to the bridge. He used the 1961 bass up through the recording of With the Beatles and, after having some repair work and a refinish to the bass in 1964, used it as his backup bass throughout the rest of the Beatles' touring career. The Phillip/Inquisitor duet remains popular because it offers up juicy opportunities for two basses to go head to head. Here's another. Khovanschina is something of a mess. Its plot revolves around Peter the Great. But the Romanovs didn't allow him to be named on stage. So the plot is largely incomprehensible. Most of the characters are despicable and almost all of them die horribly. Mussorgsky started it, Rimsky-Korsakov contributed as did Stravinsky, Ravel and Shostokovich. Incredibly it somehow works. Five heads are better than one it seems. In this scene Ghiaurov storms about in the title role - the evil head of the rebelious musketeers.
