Bebop Is...

Shot on November 22, 2009 at Boutique De Son in Montreal, "Bebop Is..." is the third in a suite of short films about jazz. Featuring Al McLean on saxophone, Kevin Dean on trumpet, Morgan Moore on bass and Hans Verhoeven on drums. In this sequence, we begin to understand the player's perspective on the musical genre of Bebop. Dean gives us a brief analysis of the style, and McLean offers a great metaphor on 1950's design. Both trumpeter and saxophonist are clearly devoted to this source dictionary of modern Jazz - Dean as a true-to-form practitioner, a 'heavy' of the genre, and McLean revealing a more post-modern approach, gathering diverse inspiration to create a flexible and facile personal style. And both musicians are playing vintage instruments that are not their usual horns; Dean a 1953 Reynolds Contempora trumpet and McLean an well restored post-war Buescher Aristocrat alto sax. The film's director Randy Cole asked McLean and Dean to play a variety of vintage horns during this session, which took the musicians slightly out of their comfort zone, resulting in an unpredictable and fresh performance. Cole has a longstanding fascination with Jazz, both as a language, and as a living contemporary art form, albeit changed from the heady days of its inception. "Jazz musicians are storytellers principally," Cole says, "the richness of communication between themselves, and with an astute audience is remarkable. A true unspoken language." Cowboy Bebop AMV - Stress

This video is originally by BogoSort/Lee Sheng. Anime Series: Cowboy Bebop Song Info: Jim's Big Ego - Stress Again I can't make this clear enough guys, as it's ALWAYS said at the top of this description this AMV is originally by BogoSort, he won a major AMV contest with it several several years ago if memory serves. I'm NOT the author, I just posted it a long time ago because at the time it couldn't be found. Recently I've seen a lot of people posting this AMV and claiming it as their own work or the work of a "friend"...unless that friend is BogoSort..well they're misleading you. This has been a public service announcement :o For more information on this video, including a download link, check out this link: www.animemusicvideos.org
Cowboy Bebop - Blue AMV

This AMV(which I whipped in an hour) deals with the loss the Bebop crew suffer/are victims of through a bit of the series. Ed's departure, Spike's loss of Julia and eventually spike's death :( Also, noticing people going a bit OTT with the comments about the video, no offence I'm obviously thankful you guys like it but its only an AMV, try not to take it TOO seriously ;) Also this is for the kids who loved anime before popular shows like Naruto came about.

Blue - Cowboy Bebop

I used the song "Blue" by Yokko Kanno and The Seatbelts to make this video. The video was edited with clips from the show "Cowboy Bebop." The rights to both the song and the video belong to the respective parties who originally created it. Now as for my personal feelings about this video...Cowboy Bebop is the only anime I have ever liked. This is due to the fact that is a very mature, very film noir story and while there are other anime like it, none have topped it in my eyes. I first saw the series back on its initial run on Adult Swim and I was hooked. I identified with Spike on practically every level. As I grow older I identify with him more and more. The final episode was probably the most emotional ending to a series I can recall. I saw every episode many many times over the years and when I learned how to capture and edit video on my computer I immediately set to work to find a suitable song to do this video justice. Watching the final episode again and again for inspiration I decided what better song than Blue, one of the best songs I have ever heard, and one that I thought could do this video justice. I hope you enjoy it for what it is, my personal salute to the best Anime in existence. ~Brian Penaloza

Dizzy played for Lucky Millinder's band in the early '40s. It was a riff this band played, after a Dizzy solo in the tune "Little John Special", that Dizzy developed into his tune "Salt Peanuts". who are the sidemen here? Is that Max Roach on drums, TheApeLad?
