A short film about the loss of HMS Bedfordshire, one of the twenty four trawlers sent out to protect the east coast of America in early February 1942. HMS Bedfordshire was later torpedoed by U558 off the North Carolina Coast on 11 May 1942. All hands were lost. This film begins with Arnold Tulson's memories of the event whilst out on duty as a coast guard. Later the story becomes more poignant when told by Sam Nutt who was a Stoker with the Bedfordshire but had a miraculous escape. Local Author L. Saint Etienne are an English indie dance act, fronted by Sarah Cracknell. Former music journalists Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs are the other regular members of the band. They are named after the famous French football team AS Saint-Étienne, European Cup runners-up in the 1970s. Tales from Turnpike House is an album by British pop group Saint Etienne. It was released June 13, 2005 (2005-06-13) on Sanctuary Records and preceded by a single for "Side Streets" on June 6, 2005 (2005-06-06). The album features two tracks co-written and producted by Xenomania ("Lightning Strikes Twice" and "Stars Above Us") as well as a guest vocal from 1970s pop star David Essex. The album is a concept album about life in a block of flats in Islington, London. In the United States, the album was released January 24, 2006 (2006-01-24) by Savoy Jazz. Initial quantities of the UK release came with a bonus EP of children's music entitled Up the Wooden Hills. The band felt that music for young children under seven was fed into unexceptional pop music, and wanted to make music that children and parents could enjoy together. 2-disc editions of the US release included instead the Savoy Nu Groove Sampler, containing six tracks from various Savoy Jazz releases, including "Side Streets" from the album itself

Another fossil hunt in the Cretaceous chalk of Bedfordshire (99-89 million years ago) which was a shallow sea. These rocks were formed from the build up of microscopic carbon sea life that settled like dust as they died. In a deep sea they would have dissolved yet here they fossilised. Houghton Quarry is an abandoned Quarry formerly used to extract chalk for a cement works on site. Quarrying stopped about 40 years ago but only parts are overgrown, leaving an enormous amount of clean chalk and a good amount as boulders on the quarry floor.
