Ibsen's Hedda Gabler (1963 TV - Ingrid Bergman) part 1 of 7

Hedda Gabler is actually named Hedda Tesman. Of this Ibsen wrote: "My intention in giving it this name was to indicate that Hedda as a personality is to be regarded rather as her father's daughter than her husband's wife." this version complete in seven parts (some cuts, Brack's part trimmed the most) One link to all seven parts of this Hedda Gabler in this playlist: www.youtube.com Ingrid Bergman ... Berta Directed by Alex Segal "Hedda Gabler" by Henrik Ibsen Ingrid Bergman wrote (in her autobiography 'My Story') "I'd always been intrigued by the role of Hedda. Such an interesting part, and Hedda is such a strange woman. The play is a classic, and I wanted to thy a classic for a change. And I liked TV even though at this time I was rationing myself to one TV performance a year. Eric Shorter in the "Daily Telegraph" summarized: "Well, if old Ibsen must be bolted throught in 75 minutes flat, who better to do it than Ingrid Bergman, Ralph Richardson, Michael Redgrave and Trevor Howard..."

The human voice / Ingrid Bergman

Ingrid Bergman gives a virtuoso solo performance in this Jean Cocteau one-act. The plot of this hour-long piece is a simple one: a woman, devastated after her lover leaves her for someone else, speaks to him on the phone one last time. The piece is beautifully, perfectly written and performed--all of the little lies and desperate hopes of heartbreak are captured. Bergman's performance is as brave as it is complex--she is willing to let her character crumble into an embarrassing weakness that few actresses would risk. Anyone who has ever nursed false hopes of salvaging a relationship will find this piece all too well done. See it, but not right after a breakup.

PZ Myers Vs Jerry Bergman (enhanced audio - full debate)

Here is the full debate, minus the introduction. The audio has been aligned as best I could do it; additionally, the sound quality has been improved for clarity in most places. If you can do better with it, by all means have at it. This is a brutal raking over the coals of batshit crazy know-nothing "Dr" Jerry "Some Village Is Missing Its Idiot" Bergman by the inimitable Professor PZ Myers. Please enjoy the experience of watching PZ Myers ever so gently shove the bullshit Bergman spews right back up his ass whence it came. This video is uploaded per request of PZ Myers; please see scienceblogs.com/pharyingula for information on it. A special thanks to user Therationalizer for his help in getting this project done.
