My First Chinese Words has been recognized by Hanban (hanban.org) as the Best Chinese as a Foreign Language program and also has been reviewed and adopted by many state departments of education including Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and North Carolina. Contact us at usa@betterchinese.com to see whether your state department of education has recommended Better Chinese for your students. My First Chinese Words are child-sized readers meant to be used as storybooks for the very young learners. Why stories? Students innately love stories because they are fun and enticing. Children learn by trying to make sense of the world around them. They are, in nature, curious and thus it is important for us, as educators, to make the things that we teach them meaningful and relevant to their everyday lives. Story-based curriculum is also the best way for children to develop literary skills, phonetic awareness, as well as provide a cultural context for learning Chinese.
