The Bicycle Film Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary! www.bicyclefilmfestival.com In 2001, Brendt Barbur, Founder and Director, was compelled to start the Bicycle Film Festival after being hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. Instead of being deterred by this experience, it inspired him to create a festival that celebrates the bicycle through music, art, and film. Now in its tenth year the festival is held in 37 cities worldwide. 300000 people are expected to attend this year. For the second year, BFF Art Director Marco Mucig filmed the trailer supported by the soundtrack of Scuola Furano (www.scuolafurano.com). Marco is an italian director, artist and designer. Two Italian and two American veterans relate intimate stories of capture and escape at the hands of Nazis and Fascists during WWII in Italy. Fabio Ricci takes us back to his Tuscan village to demonstrate how he escaped capture from the Nazis by hiding under an artichoke plant. Floyd Dumas provides a glimpse into the Italian underground that helped him escape a prison camp. Pio Pieruccini reveals the details of his capture by the Nazis and his time in a prison camp making bombs. Albert Soria fled the Nazis to the United States and then returned to liberate his homeland as an American soldier. A poignant film about four men who faced the evil of Nazism and lived to tell their stories.

2007 Bicycle Film Festival had a BMX Jam at the Wallace Emerson Community Centre, 1260 Dufferin St, Toronto, Ontario Canada on August 26th, 2007. In this video a BMX rider attempts a back flip and wipes out. He was not hurt, and continued on to dazzle the crowd for the rest of the very successful day. Thank you to Michael Heaton for making the ramps, city of Toronto Parks Forestry and Recreation for hosting the BMX park and hiring youth BMX semi-pro riders to teach BMX skills at camps over the 2007 summer, Toronto Crime Stoppers for the bike registration booth, and the addition of the graffiti art work on the ramps, 14 Division for their dedication to improving relations between the police and youth, and ThinkFirst.ca for the donation of bicycle safety information, and $20 coupons from WalMart towards the purchase of a Bell helmet. The coupons were given out to any youth who registered their bikes with Crime Stoppers. A special thank you to Benny Zenga and the whole Bicycle Film Festival for their dedication to this event, and youth/community engagement.
