08/06/11 Surfside, TX The goal this day was to catch the majority of our fish at the 4 mile rig; but the other 3 kayakers got tied up a third of the way there with LOTS of very active sharks. There were at least 9-10 sharks jumping all around us in this area when I arrived back to them. They were doing 360 degree spins up in the air before returning back to the water. IT WAS TRULY AMAZING & A BIT INTIMIDATING!!! I had one shark jump within 15 feet of my kayak. It was about a 3-4 footer...that was the size of most of them that we saw leaping out of the water. My friends were all hooked up with sharks of their own when I returned to where they were in this crazy shark infested area and I was the one who reeled in to assist and video, photograph, and help. J-Man got 3 sharks to the 3 foot size there. AC TIBURON (Big Cuban) landed 4-5 footer and Rig Prowler lost a really BIG shark that was towing him for the first 5 minutes with enough vigor to break the line after a short sleigh ride. Lots of action here! We left this area after 45 minutes while the spot was hot to conquer the 4 mile rig in search for more than just sharks. I had one good solid hook up on my first cast to the rig...it got off. It could have very well been the 40 inch plus COBIA/LING that was hovering just under the water as I was scrambling to get my bait back out to it. It was not interested... It followed it for a bit and disappeared...no fish at the rig and no more hook ups to talk about after that <b>...</b>
