First I looked a fixie and I like it. So I looked a wreck bike in garage so here my restoration for a fixie.

In what had to be the hottest building I've ever been, I met Jennifer Schaffer, a coordinator for the Yellow Bike Project. As I interviewed her for this video, I couldn't help, but notice the scene going on behind her -- the other coordinators working at a feverish pace to get as many bikes fixed by the coming Saturday for the fundraising bike sale. Over the next week and a half I filmed many Yellow Bikers as they prepared the shop to be moved (all with human power), and test out the gooseneck trailers which would serve to move the large stuff. I saw the shop go from over-full to stripped clear. On the day of the move, it was amazing to see so many folks come out to grab whatever they could fit in their small trailers, backpacks or just on their person. While the video may not capture the truly inspiring display of a 100 plus bike caravan moving an entire shop in one trip, let me tell you it was something. So now that their shop is closed, if you need help fixing your bike or of you're itching to volunteer you can go to the Treasure Island shop at 1720 East 12th Street. This is a documentary I made with a couple friends about Velocipede Bike Project. It won an Emmy from NATAS at the 50th National Capital Chesepeak Bay Emmy Awards. Velocipede is a local bike co-op that works to serve and strengthen the bike community in Baltimore, MD. The documentary focuses on Velocipede as a hub for the growing community, as well as the role small communities have in progressive change. In addition to aiding the already strong bike scene, Velocipede offers a mobility to underprivileged residents of Baltimore by providing a free resource for transportation. By increasing bicycle constituency and advocacy, Velocipede plays a large role in the movement away from cars and oil dependency. Americas car culture supports and promotes oil wars, obesity, greenhouse gas production and waste. Bike communities and organizations such as Velocipede are working for a better world on all fronts and doing it by keeping the fun between their legs. We would love to turn this into more of a feature length project. Let us know what you think of it so far!

The Aircraft Nuclear Propulsion program researched and developed two main systems of nuclear powered jet engines. The Direct Air Cycle program was the first of these. Developed by General Electric, this facet of the program was based in Evendale, Ohio. The Direct Air Cycle program was popular because it was simple, reliable and suitable and the engines were able to start quickly. It worked by letting compressed air run through the reactor of a conventional jet engine where it could be heated before being exhausted through the turbine. The X-39 engine was produced by this program and it proved to be highly successful with several upgrades made to the system at later stages. The final HTRE-3 would have most likely been used to power the X-6 nuclear propulsion aircraft if the project hadnt been scrapped.

The city of Paris rolled out a citywide bicycle program involving 10600 bikes in a bid to cut gridlock and give citizens a greener way to get around town. The program, named Vélib — a blend of vélo (bike) and liberté — allows users to swipe their credit card and take and return a bike from one of 750 stations in the city. Hal Honeyman, founder of Project Mobility: Cycles for Life, Inc. has been involved with bicycles as a sport, business, and recreation for nearly thirty years. Hal's interest in "adaptive cycling" - bicycles for people with disabilities - was spurred when his own son Jacob was born with Cerebral Palsy. Hal wanted to find a way for Jacob to join the family when bicycle riding.
