grandma shows how to make the best biscuits in the entire world. **i've had a lot of folks contact me about the recipe, but grandma says she doesn't measure anything. i should clarify that the amount of self-rising flour doesn't matter. just sift a bunch into a bowl, use equal parts lard and buttermilk (she uses a cup of buttermilk and a handful of lard), make the biscuits like grandma says, pick out any leftover pieces of dough from the flour, then dump the rest of the flour back into your 5 gallon bucket (cause i know y'all all keep flour in a 5 gallon bucket like grandma does) and use it again next time.

Please Subscribe! youtube.com How to make gravy! www.youtube.com hilahcooking.com Recipe * 1 3/4 cups flour * 1 Tablespoon baking powder * 1/2 teaspoon salt * 5 Tablespoons butter (frozen or at least very cold) * 3/4 cup buttermilk Combine dry ingredients in a big bowl. If your butter is frozen, use a coarse grater to grate it into the flour. If it's just cold, dice it and toss it around in the flour. Use your fingertips to mix the flour with the butter, sort of squeezing little bits to break up the butter and get it coated in flour. It should look grainy. Add the milk all at once and mix it up quickly. Turn it onto a floured board and knead by folding it over itself several times. Thirty seconds of kneading is plenty. Be gentle with it. Roll or pat it out into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a biscuit cutter or the rim of a glass into about 3" circles. Or you can cut with a knife to make square biscuits. Put on a cookie sheet, ungreased. Bake at 450 degrees F for 12-15 minutes.

Here you go, as promised John! These taste almost as good as the ones you get at Red Lobster. They are best eaten warm out of the oven. 2 cups Bisquick baking mix (if you don't have Bisquick in your country, google "home made Bisquick mix") 2/3 cups milk 1 cup grated cheddar cheese Mix the above three ingredients until well combined. Drop by heaping tablespoonfulls onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450F for 10 minutes. While you are waiting melt 1/4 cup of butter in the microwave and mix in 1/4 tsp of garlic powder and 1 tablespoon of dried parsley. Set aside. After the ten minutes of baking time remove biscuits from oven and using a pastry brush, brush the tops with the melted butter mixture, put them back into the oven for 5 minutes more.
