Long Good Friday. - Bob Hoskin's Yaoi Shower Hour.

Another odd scene from the British classic Gangster flick, "The Long Good Friday", which had even the manliest of men questioning their sexuality. I can't reveal a spoiler, but, Harold ( Bob Hoskins ) has had to come to terms with himself killing a fellow friend due to some unforseen circumstances, and has decided to take a nice, hot shower. Whilst his clothes are being burnt in the backyard, he proceeds to drink shower water, and soap his hairy gorilla-esqué man boobs in an erotic fashion. Seriously, the only reason I like this scene is the comedy value. It's obviously symbolic, of course, but... it all seems so bizarre, and homoerotic. Especially considering this is a movie based around gangsters, toughmen, and expert criminals. Bit out of place, don't you think? - It is, however, a manly picture of human emotion, and besides that, Bob Hoskin's showing off his ridiculous amount of body hair. Enjoy! Ho-ho.

Bob Hoskins and Frances De La Tour in Flickers, DVD out now

www.networkdvd.net Bob Hoskins (Pennies from Heaven) and Frances de la Tour (Rising Damp) star in this light-hearted, captivating series set in the very early days of the silent movie industry. Flickers was created and written by sitcom veteran Roy Clarke (Keeping Up Appearances, Last of the Summer Wine) and directed by Cyril Coke (Upstairs, Downstairs, The Duchess of Duke Street), and originally screened to huge acclaim in 1980; the series received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Limited Series in 1982. Forty-year-old Arnie Cole is a movie pioneer, showing films in makeshift cinemas during the first quarter of the twentieth century -- a long way ahead of the golden age that will be more glittering than his wildest dreams. But opportunities are opening up all the time, and Arnie's true ambition is to produce films of his own. Financial backing is, inevitably, the stumbling block. But it comes his way in unexpected form when he is introduced to Maud, the snobbish, rather plain sister of a well-to-do acquaintance; at first, Maud finds Arnie brash and vulgar, and he is equally unimpressed with her -- but having discovered that she is pregnant, she makes him an offer that he finds hard to refuse...

THE BEST OF BRITISH: VILLAINS - KNOCKER - First broadcast on 15th September, 1972

We love trawling our archives and collections for little gems and we believe we've found another, with the first broadcast since its original transmission of an episode from London Weekend's short-lived anthology of plays, "Villains" from 1972. In this, our last look at the work of the writer of "Big Breadwinner Hog", Robin Chapman, Bob Hoskins stars in an early role as Charles Grindley (aka "Knocker"). Unlike, some of Chapman's work, this 50 minute offering contains some great cutting humour and is a wonderful example of some of the attitudes some had in the UK in the early seventies!

Super Mario Brothers: The Movie [Full Length] [3D]

Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi Mario (John Leguizamo) are two Italian American plumbers living in Brooklyn, New York. The brothers are being driven out of business by the mafia-like Scapelli Construction Company, led by contractor Anthony Scapelli (Gianni Russo). Mario is the elder of the two brothers, being close to the late 30s, and Luigi is about in his early-mid 20s. Luigi falls in love with an orphaned NYU student, Daisy (Samantha Mathis), who is digging under the Brooklyn Bridge for dinosaur bones. After a date, she takes Luigi to the dig and witnesses Scapelli's men (who, along with Scapelli himself, had previously threatened her to end her research on that specific piece of land for their own interests) sabotage it by leaving the water-pipes open. Luigi tries to stop it but he does not have his tools on him so he can not fix it. They rush back to his apartment where they inform Mario about the incident. The three go back to the flooding and the Mario Bros. manage to fix it but are knocked out by two strange characters, Iggy (Fisher Stevens) and Spike (Richard Edson). The two crooks kidnap Daisy. Mario and Luigi awaken a minute later and head deeper into the caves following Daisy's screaming and discover an interdimensional portal through which Mario and Luigi follow Daisy. They find themselves in a strange dystopian parallel world where a human-like race evolved from dinosaurs rather than the mammalian ancestry of true humans. Sixty-five million years ago, a ...

Bob Hoskins Flip

Possibly the greatest scene of any Bob Hoskins movie, or any movie at all for that matter. Note how in one scene he begins to list toward the rock face, mostly upright. Immediately in the next scene he appears upside-down! That is the nature of the Bob Hoskins Flip. Marvel at his mournful, yet thoughtful wail as he gracefully descends through the interdimensional vortex! Exclaim gleefully as he deftly alights on the solid ground of the majestic Mushroom Kingdom for the first time.. Truly, a spectacle of spectacles. This is everything I loved about the mario games and so much more... and also john leguizamo.

Long Good Friday. - "COLIN'S BIN' STABBED!"

A weird scene from the British gangster flick, "The Long Good Friday", in which Harold ( Bob Hoskins ) and his criminal pal, Razors, slash up some naked gay Liverpudlian dude in exchange for some information. I really couldn't explain it much better than that, but the reason this stands out in my head is the unintentionally funny line from Sir Bob, "Colin's been STABBED!", which never fails to amuse me. The whole sequence is pretty bizarre, including Razor's little back story about his nickname, The Human Spirograph. Pretty compelling stuff, eh? Enjoy!

Iago Anthony Hopkins ... Othello Director: Jonathan Miller Othello (1981) (TV) Shakespeare's Othello can sometimes be overpowered, in our imaginations, by Iago. Indeed, Verdi thought of calling his opera "Iago". Anthony Hopkins' rather subduded Othello, on the surface, doesn't seem to help--after all, Othello is a character endowed with more emotional range and story--but Hopkins' thoughtful performance grows on you.
