How To Thread Bobbin on Brother LS 2125 Sewing Machine
www.mikeyssmail.com In my quickness to unwrap my new sewing machine. I took out the bobbin and the holder thinking it all needed to come out in order to thread my machine. It took me 2 hours to figure out that I didn't need to remove everything... just the bobbin holder. The directions for this machine are very poor in showing a good graphic on how it all assembles back into place. Hopefully this helps you.

Preparing bobbins for lace making
Here I show different methods of making the hitch on bobbins when preparing them for lace making. First for bobbins wound anti-clockwise as seen from the head (usually used for linnen thread because of it's inherent twist), then for clockwise wound thread (usually cotton or silk).

How to thread a vintage round bobbin sewing machine - Singer 99K
The method is the same for threading the Singer 66K. Full instructions for threading the machine, filling the bobbin and loading the bobbin in the machine. The machine shown is a 1927 Singer 99K which featured in the video showing the removal of the motor. The 99K is a very reliable model which produces an excellent stitch. How to thread a Singer long bobbin sewing machine
This is a Singer 28K hand machine. It is the machine I learnt to sew on in the 1960s. Threading is exactly the same for a treadle machine. This is an old model (this machine was manufactured in 1897) and the thread has to be released by pressing the tab beneath the tension discs if you want to pull it through - later models have no tab because the thread runs freely if the presser foot is raised. Also you will see the correct way to remove the shuttle. They should be handled carefully so as not to damage the tension spring. Singer manuals can be downloaded from the Singer website if you can't get hold of an old booklet. To wind the bobbin and load the shuttle, see our previous video.

Wind a Long Bobbin on a Treadle Sewing Machine
My grandmother taught me to use her treadle sewing machine in 1954 in her adobe house in El Paso, Texas. Years later I lived with her for almost a year, she then owned two treadle sewing machines, and we treadled together. Over the years I owned many electric machines but my first treadle, purchased at a swap meet in 1973, became my old dependable that would sew through heavy canvas when the electrics would not. In 1993, after a turn of events I decided I no longer wanted electric machines and gave away or sold them. By 1999 I decided I had to have a second treadle, like grandmother had, but I couldn't stop at 2 or 3 or 4, they are like potato chips, can't stop. The iron beauties are dependable once they are cleaned and oiled. Treadle sewing machines have a junkyard reputation because they were neglected and are often jammed with lint, thread and dried oils. Multi Bobbin Transformer - create high voltage
Just a bit of an idea i've been playing with. If you take a small mains transformer and use in reverse, you could feed it with an AC signal of 9-0-9 using a pair of transistors and theoretically get 240 volts out. You could be feeding the transformer with half an amp of power, but if you want more voltage out, you could double up the transformers, but that would mean feeding the 9-0-9 with 1 amp, so how about having a theoretical output of 1000 volts ? It starts to become a case of bigger transistors and a good battery if you want it portable. In this video i explain an idea to take apart and reconstruct 4 transformers taken from plug type power supplies so you only have one 9-0-9 winding and four 240 volt windings. My initial results produced about 650 volts, but the oscillator and drive circuit needs a bit of work to get the right power going in, currently the way the power transistors are being turned on is via a pull up resistor, i need to put a couple of PNP transistors in there to get a better pull up. Description Antique Japanese silk reel bobbin. These items are called itomaki in Japan where they were in common use for silk thread production until roughly the end of the 19th century. The bobbins where used with special machines called zakuri which were often hand-powered and included clever gears and mechanisms to spool silk in a fast and efficient manner. Silk production was a widespread cottage industry in Japan through the end of the long and peaceful Edo period (1600-1868) and many traditional Japanese farmhouses were designed with special attic rooms for the pursuit of sericulture. About the Listed Item This hand-crafted antique wooden itomaki silk reel bobbin is in fine condition with no cracks. The bobbin dates from the early to mid 20th century and does have marks and scratches from use and wears a darkened patina of age. Brush-applied Japanese writing can be seen on some of the bobbin's spokes.
