QL PIANOS TEST (1) - BOESENDORFER 290

I recommend you to listen in STEREO, this to better understand the quality and the dynamics of this tool, here is the link in stereo: www.youtube.com This is a Software, with a record of the Great Grand Piano Bösendorfer 290 (Vienna-Austria), a real and very high fidelity recording of piano sampler. I use this piano with a Pentium computer Quad 2400 Mhz x 4, Asus Motherboard with 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, Soundcard RME HDSP 9632 Adat, Windows Vista Ultimate System 64 Bit. Info about Sampler: A sampler is an electronic musical instrument closely related to a synthesizer. Instead of generating sounds from scratch, however, a sampler starts with multiple recordings (or "samples") of different sounds, and then plays each back based on how the instrument is configured. Because these samples are usually stored in RAM, the information can be quickly accessed. The sampler has become an important instrument in hip hop, electronic music, and avant-garde music. Unlike traditional digital audio playback, each sample is associated with a set of synthesis parameters, and can thus be modified in many different ways. Most samplers have polyphonic capabilities - they are able to play more than one note at the same time. Many are also multitimbral: they can play back different sounds at the same time. Historical overview: The emergence of the digital sampler made sampling far more practical, and as samplers added progressively more digital processing to their recorded sounds, they began to ...

PMI - Boesendorfer 290 Example 1

Ever since I first became aware of this instrument in 2005, I knew that one day I would finally have it. A few weeks ago this finally came true, and I have been using it extensively since then. I had to dial in my technique a little in order to play this library properly--specifically, I had to lighten up my touch somewhat. In fact, I'm still learning how to master this beast even now. The thing that attracted me to this library was the tone of this instrument. I had always liked the Boesendorfer, yet this particular specimen is exceptional. That said, the library did require a little EQ to clean up the sound a bit. Basically, I applied a slight cut to mid-bass and a moderate accent around 9 kHz or so. The example you hear is a theme I've been playing for the past week. Eventually it will be a short instrumental called "Peach's Music Box" (yeah, I know, everybody will think of Nintendo). It's the affectionate nickname for the girl in the story I eventually plan to tell through music (a concept album of sorts). The second half of the example is just some pounding chords to demonstrate the dynamic range and power of the instrument. Here's the high quality audio link: www.mediafire.com I hope to post at least one more example of this instrument, most likely in a context setting. Comments are always appreciated! -Squonk PS Like what you've seen? Come visit me at my NEW WEBSITE! ryderduncan.com

The Grand 3 Boesendorfer Improvisation from 10/01/20

Hello after a long time without new videos. I had to sort out some stuff here. And I changed to Steinbergs' superb "The Grand 3". Now here is the first impression with the Boesendorfer 290 in action. As always, single take, no correction measures taken. Enjoy and give me your feedback

Hello again, one more sample of the brilliant Grand 3 Boesendorfer 290 "Imperial". Of course my RD600 is lacking 12 keys to get the full scale of the Imperial, but nonetheless, a great virtual instrument IMO. Enjoy, share your opinions!

Robert Turner performing on a beautiful Boesendorfer Piano at the Yamaha outpost at NAMM 2010 with Piano Man Glenn Stewart and producer watching closely. With an aggressive style and soulful approach, he draws a crowd of eyes and ears wherever he plays. Due to his aggressive hammering on the piano keys coupled with the tiny microphone of my iPod Nano, the audio peaks at times, but is well worth it!

M-Tron + PMI Boesendorfer + Vocals: Mellotron Orchestra

This is what happens when the M-Tron, the PMI Bösendorfer 290, and a second tenor with a trumpet voice (as opposed to flute or reed) are mixed together. This track was built from a series of chords played on the Violins 1 bank. From there I added bass using the Cello and Double Bass banks (in unison), some arpeggios using the Bösendorfer, and some melodic figures using the Flutes and Clarinet banks. It was only after I had the track laid out that I decided to add some (rather inane) words. Everything here was heavily EQ'ed and affected, as per the usual production process. In future videos I'll detail exactly what that process is and, especially, how I finally managed to get the Violins 1 bank not to sound like it was found at the bottom of a lake. I just figured I'd upload something that wasn't Mario-related to prove I haven't forgotten why I started this YouTube channel. Plus, I just think this came out really awesome, and it demonstrates how 'Trons can be used to create a very thick, orchestral sound. The Bösendorfer is a perfect fit here, being more of a dark, classical instrument—even with this, they do tend to sound thin in a mix, and this one is no exception. Perhaps my favorite touch, though, was the Double Bass bank—it was most likely intended to emulate pizzicato jazz upright plucking, but a bass is a bass and it works really well here. It adds a solid foundation to the Cello, and you'd notice something was missing if the bass were taken away. You're going to ...

Tom's Gospel Blues

MIDI file of my playing in this video as well as a .PDF notation file are available for download on my website at www.Lot2Learn.com This is a departure from my normal style of playing and is dedicated to one of my favorite pianists here on YouTube, 7notemode. His playing is deeply-rooted in his gospel upbringing and is always soulful, sensitive and expressive. I have tried to capture some of that spirit in this performance and hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed playing it. Technical Notes I have managed to adjust the Vienna Imperial Grand software sampled piano to achieve a sound I felt fit this piece nicely. This is a huge sampled piano (Boesendorfer) and now that I have been using it for a month, I am finding the settings that I like. You can read and hear more about this piano at vsl.co.at Once again, thanks to Jamal at www.MidiKeyz.com for his awesome program that provides the on-screen midi keyboard.

The amount of time put into the quality of that software by computer and sound engineers and then my time spent on composing makes the degredation in quality unconscionable. I can't envisage anyone choosing to listen to something that sounds like it's coming from a $5 survival kit radio versus sound quality that makes you feel as though you are in the presence of one of the finest pianos ever made. I'm sitting at my computer in awe because the recording is better than my digital piano could even produce as I was playing it. Because there is a lag between the time I strike a key and hear the sound from my computer, I have to mute the computer while playing and just listen to what my digital piano can put out... then render the recording.
