This was the final leg of the journey, crossing over the Danube from Calarasi in Romania to Silistra in Bulgaria and then on to Kranevo, about 90 miles on the other side. The barge that took us across, was bobbing up and down as we boarded it and it must have been a high point as we were driving on and the metal ramp, can be heard in the vid, scrapping along the underside of the car. It was not a pleasent sound being inflicted on a 15 year old motor. I did some research on Wikipedia and found out that the population of Kranevo is only 992, which which seems deceptively small. It was the end of season and I was trying to get some work playing in some of the bars around the place but as you can see from the final shot in the film, the place was pretty much empty and I would have to travel down to Sunny Beach a week later to get some gigs.

This is my second try at trying to put music to a drive Maureen an I undertook last year. My first one was silenced by Youtube for including snippets of somebody else's music, (my fault , I suppose). If any body was interested in hearing this, you can watch it in the video section of my Myspace page, www.myspace.com/mungomunro This time I compiled something which sort of invokes the feeling of driving.

ASDA / Children in Need - Boldon

This video is of the BBC Children in Need fashion show at Asda Boldon. The show also featured Asda colleagues and customers strutting their stuff on a professionally produced stage set complete with catwalk! They modelled George clothing complete with BBC Children in Need T-shirts and other charity merchandise. The show was open to the general public and although it is free, visitors were donating plenty of cash to the BBC Children in Need cause Asda is one of Children in Needs major partners and has raised more than £8.4 million during its many years of involvement. Fashion shows like the one at Asda Boldon are just one element of Asdas commitment to supporting BBC Children in Need again this year, with hundreds of thousands of colleagues and customers throughout the country fund-raising on the run-up to the event day, November 20th.

On this part of the journey, we travelled from west of Sibui in Romania to a little village called Saliste, which we came across, while having a little wander from the main road to Bucharest. Sibui had a large Germanic population at one time and though, many had emigrated back to Germany, a lot of the street signs are still in both languages. The room, though itself clean, pleasant and secure, was situated in a building that was a basic undecorated frame of concrete and timber. The entrance had the most amazing view of the mountains and a fully functioning industrial timber yard with animals freely roaming around, which was part of the same complex. Thank God it was Sunday, eh! The people we met in the pub/shop across the road were cool and we got conversing in a broken, sign language based dialogue, (and beer lubrication) straight away. We got talking to Miha and Catalina who could act as translator for everybody They didn't do food, so we were going to buy food from the shop and do self catering. But after taking my guitar in to the bar and singing a few songs we were treated to an, us' exclusive meal with localy caught trout, home made goats cheese and a maize based filler and they wouldn't take any money for anything. I gave a small boy a Newcastle shirt and I was rewarded with a Steaua Bucarest shirt from Nico. Multumesc Saliste
