Replacing Drum Brake Shoes Part 1

Well here it is as promised, the full length version of the replacement of brake shoes. It seems my viewers have an interest in 2 things in particular, brakes and check engine lights so here are some brakes for you. To tell the truth I don't do too many drum brake jobs these days so I'm a little rusty but the principals here are sound and should get you through a basic drum brake job. A couple of things to note here, I replaced the drums on this particular job but if you have enough "meat" left on the drums you can have them machined for a lot less than replacing them. Also, I didn't get the removal of the drum in this video because of time constraints however you can go to the "Drum Brakes, a Quick Look" video to see how to remove them, here's a link. www.youtube.com Watch the next video www.youtube.com I hope this video was helpful, you can always visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com for some of the latest junk I have for you. ericthecarguy.com Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information. Park Brake shoes

Most Chevy Tahoe's & Silverado's from 2000 up have a one piece design park brake shoe. And, it seems to break apart a lot. It's really not a big deal to replace. It may look like the park brake shoe won't come off without taking off the axle, but it will. Be sure to check to see that the backing plate is not rusting to pieces, that's a common problem too. To change the backing plate the axle will have to come out. As long as your backing plates are good, just change the shoes.

How To Replace Drum Brake Shoes (Full)

www.ericthecarguy.com Here is a full length version of a video that I posted some time ago, this way you can watch the entire thing in one sitting instead of switching from one video to the next. If your watching this for the first time I'm aware that sandals are not the best thing to wear when doing auto repair. In addition there IS a jack stand just out of frame in the video I just leave the floor jack in place while I work normally where it is so that it's quicker to let the car down when I'm done.Stay dirty ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information. How to replace rear brake pads on a Honda Civic

This install is on a 2002 Honda Civic Si-R (Canada) Hatchback but will apply to most models. Sometimes when a c-clamp is used to compress the piston, the piston will act like it's seized. However, a quick turn of the piston will compress it very easily. I am not responsible for any damages or improper installation.

Replace front disc brake pads on a 2001 VW Jetta

This is a step by step video showing how I replaced the front disc brake shoes on a 2001 VW Jetta. Note that the rear disc brakes on this model are significantly more difficult, because the emergency brake is intimately associated with the rear caliper. You need special tools to do the rear. I have made some still photos of a rear caliper when I rebuilt it last year. If you want to see those, send me a youtube message. This video is published for entertainment purposes, and is not to be construed as an instruction guide. I am not a professional mechanic.
