This is a tutorial on how to make and animate your very own brickfilm. I created this video as my own Independent Investigation Project for SAGE. If you really want to know about making brickfilms, I would go to brickfilms.com and click on the resources page, but if you are a beginner (and pardon me if you are not)remember to always start on a level you fell comfortable with. I use an Olympus FE-210/X-775 camera and a Vegas 8.0 program. There are grown-up people out there who haven't lost their love for lego-bricks. They shoot little clips in a world where everything is made of bricks. They might reenact their favourite movie scenes or historic soccer games. It's always a lot of work, a horrible ordeal but the results are fantastic. That's why it's become a trend on the internet. Pinus Hauser, Jonathan, Denecke and Milan Bolland are just a few of those who are still in touch with their inner child. They spend hours playing contentedly with lego figures in the confines of their broom cupboard film sets. The stop motion technique which involves moving the figures slightly for every frame helps them to come alive. A webcam takes fifteen pictures for every second of film. Despite humble beginnings, brick films have gained an increasly high profile. Cult moviemaker Michel Gondry tried his hand at the technique when he made a video forThe White Stripes.

My entry for the Brickfilms.com Heroes and Villains contest for the Summer of 2005, Don't Bug Me was a spin off from a joke made by 'KarateDude' in the Brickfilms chat about 'educational super heroes'. With collaboration with Rachel 'Dewfilms' Dew in regard to character development and use of some previous 'villains' I had developed for other purposes, Don't Bug Me takes one into Brickville High for a weird little adventure. Is it a hero or is it a villain film? Technically this film has some problems problems such a some set bumps, timing and some other fixes but hopefully the story is fun to follow albeit a bit rushed.

This is the first Lego animation or "Brickfilm" as some people would call it, ever made, by a genius named "Lindsay Fleay". It was created in Perth, Western Australia between the years of 1985 and 1989! I talked to Lindsay and he gave me permission to upload this to my Youtube channel. Normally I wouldn't upload someone else's work, but I had to spread the word on this classic. Film #1: This is a short film entry for a Brick Films Halloween Competition, I came in 2nd place ! I no longer want any association with the website mentioned above and the end credits of my film, or its management. Please see the link below for a really good Brick Filming website, run by fans for fans and for those of you that want to learn how to animate bricks ! I am pretty happy with considering this is my first ever go at 'Brickfilming'. Shot over 10 days using a Logitech Quickcam Pro 4000 webcam & AnimatorDV Simple+. It's approximately 2700 frames in total, editing on Sony Vegas Pro 8. The dialogue was recorded using Audacity and the numerous sound effects were either created by myself or downloaded from freeware/Royality free sites, credited at the end of the movie. I also used MorphVox Pro voice manipulation software for the Demon / Dementor minifig character you see at the start of the film. To get the film to synch in with the pre-recorded dialogue & sounds I used WavTracker, this was invaluable & freeware !!! I also used Gimp for the masking in some of the scenes. This too is freeware and simple to use. Oh and in case some of you didn't get the reference - Kessler = David Kessler,the main character from 'An American Werewolf In London'. I used Morpheus Photo Morpher to create the werewolf transformation.
