Adam Lambert gives a brilliant performance of "Come to Me, Bend to Me" from "Brigadoon." There's no video, but we include some older photos of Adam that you may not have seen. The performance is from Houston's Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) in 2004 - so Adam was about 22 years old. Amazingly, this is from a "live" stage performance, not a studio recording with multiple takes. It tells the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. The enchantment is viewed by them as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. According to their covenant with God, no one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. Columbia Records president and producer Goddard Lieberson, who, in addition to bringing many original Broadway cast albums to Columbia from the mid-'40s on also made a point of recording studio cast albums of vintage Broadway musicals that had never been recorded before or had been recorded by other companies, had good reasons to put together his own version of Brigadoon ten years after its Broadway premiere. The show had been recorded by rival RCA Victor Records shortly before the advent of the LP era on five 78s, so the original Broadway cast album contained only ten tracks and ran less than 33 minutes. The show had been turned into a movie in 1954, but the resulting original soundtrack album released by MGM Records was even shorter, less than 28 minutes. Further, by 1957 the 12" LP era had dawned, and with it so-called "high fidelity" recording. Thus, Columbia was able to promote its 45-minute studio-cast recording of Brigadoon, made in July 1957 and released in 1958, as a "new performance which contains many hitherto unrecorded selections," adding that it "presents the exciting...score for the first time in high fidelity and for the first time at such length, providing at last an extended survey of its riches." I would just like to say that this ending is so RUSHED. There are so many things that needed to be explained but weren't. 1. Aloma just killed my brain cells. if Marin was the ancestor, how come Marine Creis EXISTED FIRST? If that's a typo and Marine Creis is the actual ancestor, then the next best explanation is that Marin's a clone. But if she's a clone, why doesn't she work as a "key" in Brigadoon? Clones are, just in case you don't know, DNA REPLICAS. There may be slight differences in their outer appearance, but their DNA should be EXACT matches. 2. So Lulu and Aloma are one and the same. But Lulu aimed for the destruction of both Brigadoon and earth. Why did he [as Aloma] assist Marin and Melan in saving the world? 3. So EEEEEVERYONE, no matter how badly mutilated or even killed [as in the case of Marin], were resurrected. So why can't Chroma come back? NOTE: In case you're wondering whether Marin and Melan lived happily ever after or not, just watch the claymation at the end. It will give you an idea. EDIT: for those who DID watch the claymation but still didn't get it, here's the explanation: You see, every episode contains a short claymation, about 5 seconds or so, and basically has lolo acting out <b>...</b>
