UBG#2 -On Tuesday August 5 we reconvened at the field behind the Station 41 fire department in Waverley NS to shoot the second video in the trilogy, United Breaks Guitars Song 2. Once again, everyone volunteered their time and talent to produce an outstanding video; however, Song 2 was a much bigger production than United Breaks Guitars. In addition to the main roles, we had nearly 100 extras in the cast and in order to say everything we wanted to say with the video, we required a broken guitar, an imitation broken guitar, a 40 foot high scissor lift, a limousine (complete with secret service agents), one genuine imitation space capsule, a space suit, a tuba, 3 suits of German Lederhosen, a canoe, one white panel van and a woman willing to wear tights and a big dollar sign.

I play the solo slightly differently, but he's amazing! ______ This is me playing "Broken" by Seether on my acoustic guitar (Washburn D-12). I put the "One Cold Night" version of the song under my guitar recording via Audacity, so that it wouldn't sound so empty. The video and audio were recorded seperatedly and I edited the whole thing in Windows Movie Maker. It's not 100% synchronous, but I did my best. =) I was off tempo a few times, too, but am happy with how it came out. Let me know what you think about it and if you have any suggestions! If you get one without the frame, you'll need to use quite a lot of heat like a 'paint stripping hot air gun' to soften the glue that holds the digitizer in place and then glue the new one back in. If you find the HOME/MENU BUTTON doesn't work after repair: Hold the power button down for about 10 seconds or until you feel 3 buzzes, this does a hard reset. If a hard reset doesn't work, re-installing the firmware will fix this problem as you will read in the comments below. This problem doesn't seem to happen with the new Anna update. To replace a damaged LCD (AMOLED) or Digitizer you'll need: T5 or T4(both used in production) star type screwdriver. (search for torx on Maplin or Amazon) Plastic knife (or guitar pick) and some tweezers to grab the screws. Parts are very easy to find online. This is a remix of "Title Music" and "Night Mission" from Red Zone for Sega Genesis. The original songs were composed by Jesper Kyd, whose work on the Sega Genesis is arguably the biggest influence on my overall guitar style. This remix is still a work-in-progress and may change with feedback from the OverClocked ReMix community. As it stands now, though, I'm really happy with this version and hope the changes I have to make, if any, will be minor. I did this mix for two reasons. Firstly, to pay homage to the game composer who not only made, in my opinion, the best soundtracks ever to grace the Sega Genesis, but also had such a major influence on how I write music and play guitar. Björk & Raimundo Amador live on Jools Holland 1998. "I recorded 'So Broken' that infamous week for me, the week of the bomb. The only way for me to write a song about it was just to take the piss. I wrote it in my house hitting the table singing, 'I'm so broken (in corny, overwrought voice), olé!' I was going to have the sound of washing dishes and three kids screaming; it would be a soap opera. Then I went to the studio in Spain and met the flamenco guitarist who plays on the track and stayed there for six months recording." Few days ago I started thinking about how I could re-purpose the keyboard of the dismantled piano I keep in the garden, so I thought to build a new instrument by combining it with some other parts I had laying around. I ended up with this mechanical hybrid thing I thought to call "Bassoforte" (bass + pianoforte). The neck is from a broken electric bass, as a bridge I used a cabinet handle, the pickups are from a guitar, and the part at the top where the strings are attached is a chimney cap, which works as resonator as well as percussive sound. The track I created is a tribute to my Dad who is a big fan of Western comic books and "spaghetti western" films, and because of him I am too. I hope you'll like it!
