Ridiculous Bureaucracy Killing the American Dream?

America was once considered the land of opportunity, home of the American dream...where the entrepreneurial spirit thrives. But is all that a thing of past? Now, it seems, a ridiculous bureaucracy has people jumping through hoops to start a business. From needing a license to speak to people, to requiring florists to pass a test some say is more difficult than the bar exam, entrepreneurs are being forced to do useless things to start a business. How are these laws able to get enacted? Lobbyists and special interest groups infiltrate politics on the federal and local level. They urge lawmakers to pass regulations that benefit them, and keep the competition out.

Bureaucracy & the Idiot

All institutions within all societies, whether capitalist, socialist or mixed, create bureaucracies to centralize power and wield power more efficiently. In seeking to rationalize and conform to reason, bureaucracies destroy reason, freedom and democracy, according to Max Weber, William James & C. Wright Mills. In forcing the individual to adapt to the demands of Post Modernity, the individual is divided or alienated from himself. People are disengaged from allegiances; neither radical or reactionary. They are inactionary. Bureaucracies produce mass apathy or what the psychiatrist Wilhelm Reich called a mass malaise. If we apply the Greeks definition of the idiot as an altogether private man, then we must conclude many citizens of many societies are indeed idiots.

The decline of Bureaucratic Elites and the Rise of Thatcherism

Political journalist and documentarian Adam Curtis examines some of the key intellectual theories at the heart of Thatcherism and explores the political circumstances of the late 1970's that led to Mrs. Thatcher's election victory. Also includes a brief look at how the BBC sitcom "Yes, Minister" might be considered a form of political propoganda for the Thatcher revolution. Taken from the multi-award winning documentary "The Trap: What Happened to our Dream of Freedom". Note: Features the New Order song "Age of Consent" from the 1983 LP "Power, Corruption and Lies"

Battle Bureaucracy with Fake "Crises" and Caf

If your company is at all established and successful, it's probably already become a bloated, uninspiring workplace, says leading satirist Dr. EL Kersten, author of "The Art of Demotivation." Here's how to take back your company by overcaffeinating your workers, limiting their contact with the outside world, and teaching them that the need for "fairness" is petty and weak.

Sociology 103 - Bureaucracy

Max Weber, William James and C. Wright Mills all believed bureaucracies rob us of freedom, democracy and dignity. Institutions are all formed by bureaucracies with self serving elites at the top. The industrial age required bureaucracies to rationalize life and make modernity efficient.
Will Greenfield, MA Bureaucrats Make Right to Pete Eyre & Ademo?

This is an overarching video that details the aggressive force used by Todd M. Dodge of the Greenfield, MA Police Department and his colleagues at the Franklin County Jail against Ademo (aka Adam Mueller) & Pete Eyre on July 1st, 2010 and the subsequent lack of accountability. For all posts, videos and documents related to this incident visit: CopBlock.org Please take a moment to help us seek accountability. Demand that they drop our charges and return our property. First Friday - Self-Government or Czarist Bureaucracy - Dr. Larry P. Arnn

The Declaration of Independence was a revolutionary document, but also a humble one. American government, it proclaimed, would be at all times subservient to "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God." Today, in higher education and in politics, those laws are held not to exist. As a direct result, our government rules according to its unchecked will, and we are seeing the reduction of politics to force. The key to reversing this trend--thus to reviving liberty--is a return to our ancient faith. Larry P. Arnn is the twelfth president of Hillsdale College. He received his BA from Arkansas State University, and his MA and Ph.D. in government from the Claremont Graduate School. He also studied at the London School of Economics and at Worcester College, Oxford University, where he was director of research for Sir Martin Gilbert, the official biographer of Winston Churchill. From 1985-2000, Dr. Arnn was president of the Claremont Institute. He is the author of Liberty and Learning: The Evolution of American Education. The First Principles on First Fridays monthly lecture series was launched in 2008 by the Hillsdale College Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, DC

Col Snider: US Military a Bureaucracy Not a Profession 1

Army Retired Colonel and Professor Don Snider Reveals US Military is NOT a Profession of Conscience but a Bureaucracy...and the fault for this is the Colonels and Generals (Admirals) in the armed forces for creating a climate where lemming subordinates must blindly obey their BS instead of their consciences and the external facts of reality which over time results in the organization not having expertise to do vital tasks well because professional skills and knowledge which comes from the rank & file through experimentation and study is not valued. www.combatreform.com Snider is wrong in one regard implying that we must wait for the senior brass to make it safe or that one has to be on paid active duty to practice your profession; we must be professional reformers now who create and advocate military excellence--- and damn how the bureaucrats will resent and resist it; the truth cannot be killed; ideas are bullet and career back-stab-proof! www.fpri.org

Bureaucracy at its Best: A Day at the DMV

After experiencing hours of government bureaucracy at it's finest, we found a way to return the favor to the Department of Public Safety (DMV) with a little civil disobedience. Apparently we need to clarify that this is not a personal attack on the employees of the agency for those who comment with collectivist-style ignorance. Keep in mind, though, that the employees do bear responsibility for enforcing absurd and often arbitrary policies. It would be a great start if they offered an inkling of respect for the time wasted of the citizens they "serve." This short documentary will make Ron Paul fans proud.

Good bye Europe, Spanish bureaucracy and the Importance of patience - Fab&Vivien Webisode #2

Hello Africa! Finally I made it out of Spain, Granada. What first seemed to be wasted time, turned out to be a valuable lesson. Being in Granada teached me the importance of patience and adapting to a more laid-back, southern kind of mindset. Enjoy and give it a like (and a +1) at the top of my webpage www.fabandvivien.com if you like it. The more people know about it, the more donations will be generated for the projects I am going to visit.

I thought this might have a life span only for election time but, what with the happenings and economic meltdowns maybe not! Geez, how do we get people engaged in making things better not worse? Well, the theme of this song may be a good place to start .... Here's the original description: Just in time for the elections. This is a new (October 2008) song which could be the rallying cry anytime there is an election. Forget about the verses, it's the chorus that we can all use. Oh yeah, vote!
