A quick look at the Signature Raven Flute made by flute maker Odell Borg. The flute is in the key of F# and is made from "ebonized" walnut and decorated with spiny oyster inlay. This is a truly beautiful instrument created by a master craftsman. It's my favorite of several Odell Borg flutes that I have the honor of owning and playing. Paraphrased from Odell's website: Ebonizing is a process first used in the early 1900s. Ebony furniture was popular at that time, but the wood was already rare and costly, To compensate for that, wood workers developed a dyeing process called Ebonizing. Unlike a stain, the dyeing process penetrates the wood fiber deeply simulating the black texture of Ebony.
