Born Dwight Duncan, in 1973, Spring Garden, St. Thomas, Jamaica, Bushman was raised as a Rasta since the tender age of two. During his teenage years and known as Junior Melody, he became the selector for Black Star Line sound system and began to sing dub plates for local sound systems such as Lees Unlimited, Mello Construction, King Majesty and others. This track is off the Higher Ground album, released in 2001 on Greensleeves label. For months, I thought this was voiced by one of my favourite artists, Luciano and has been a regular "rewind" driving tune for me for several years. What a voice!

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman: Broken Hopes
The current Cold Steel Pocket Bushman is a broken design. Cold Steel highly touts its Ram Safe® locking system (powered by a "strong compression spring") and provides us with convincing copy and pictures to prove the point. But sometimes reality can provide a harsh wakeup call as it did in my own casual study and initial use of the Pocket Bushman. First some background on the mechanism: for actuation in either direction, extraction of this locking bar via the provided 550 cord lanyard is necessary. The spring is strong and a fair amount of pulling force is required to unlock the blade, whether closed or open. If the user pulls the bar out too far, which is easy to do, the entire locking bar comes out from underneath the blade hilts, ejects itself from the handle, and can irreparably bend/kink the compression spring. This is what happened to my knife. At this point the knife, at least as designed, will be non-functional. The spring kink will prevent re-assembly of the locking bar and further (normal) use of the knife. This is currently a fatal flaw in an otherwise high value and seemingly strong knife. A locking bar retention mechanism needs to be immediately applied to the design. For a knife thats touted to be nearly as strong as fixed blade design, this is a glaring disappointment and it is shocking to me this eventuality was not identified in testing. Should this flaw be rectified, then the Pocket Bushman could stand out as a high value design with many positive <b>...</b>

CS Pocket Bushman: Broken Hopes Update
Cold Steel did replace my P. Bushman quickly. Unfortunately they sent the original, flawed locking bar design to me and after two openings the knife promptly broke AGAIN. Yes there is a re-design of this locking bar but apparently the service department has not got the word on this! It's shameful to ship the same broken design out to customers. Also note that Cutlerylover also had problems with his knife while doing light batoning. So the Pocket Bushman Saga continues and the hopes remain broken. Can they be fixed with the improved design (if I ever get it!)? Stay tuned...
