
South Azerbaijan Parliament Initiative Group Chairman Aslan Halidi IRAN'S ROLE IN NARDARAN INCIDENT IN AZARBAIJAN IRAN'S ROLE IN NARDARAN INCIDENT IN AZARBAIJAN AIt is claimed that Iran has played a role in the tension lived in Nardaran village near to Azerbaijani capital Baku DO- One killed and a number of others injured during this mentioned incident that took place in June and July. Tension reached a peak in the village again on September 21 when Haci Cebrail Alizade, one of the leading figures of the village who also was the Chairman of a nongovernmental organization named, the "Baku and Villages Union", was detained without a reason. People of the village staged various different demonstrations after the incident and asked officials to release Alizade and those who are detained. Azerbaijani Olaylar [incidents] newspaper reported on September 27 that religious reactions escalate in relation to the tension. South Azerbaijan Parliament Initiative Group Chairman Aslan Halidi stated that people chanted extreme Islamists slogans during the demonstrations in Nardaran and these slogans affected the people of Azerbaijan adversely. He also held Iranian Intelligence Service responsible for the incidents. Halidi said that, "thousands of Azerbaijani people received training on the ideology of Khomeini, in Tehran and Meshed and these people would pose a serious threat in the future of Azerbaijan."
