For the family of the " CBOM ", the inspiration is a composition when with it is to be sought some share on the side indicated. In this version I use only my CITTERN (Sobell) initially to record the rhythmic one with a capo with the 5th box, which enables me to present the solo into live to you. Hi Guys. This piece was a little harder to play than I expected. I have added a second bouzouki in places however what you hear on the first bouzouki is exactly what you see on the video (played live). The drum section was tricky and it is quite difficult to play this tune with a band and to sound groovy because in the middle section there are a few bars of 11/16 and unless someone like Dave Weckl (Chick Corea) is playing the drums, it can sound a bit messy. My guitar solo was also tricky as I have only recently removed the frets. Hope you enjoy. Costa.

As always, catch what you can for now, and the harder tricks will begin to come together as you gain experience and understanding of how your favourite players do things. It's not easy for me to simplify my performance as it will not give you a true indication of how I would expect to hear a song from a listeners point of view. My fender needs a new power switch so I have used Guitar amp pro software built into logic to try and emulate the old electric sound but nothing beats a real analogue valve. You can feel the difference on your fingers as it feels alive whereas software just feels slightly delayed. Again, I have played all the instruments for my backing AND also, you can hear my voice at 00.25. I am thinking of becoming an opera singer (not) lol. I have recorded this song as simply as I can but trying to keep it musical. It is a touch slower than it would normally be played. The hammers are a very important part of the bouzouki playing style and you have to synchronize accurately with the plectrum to be affective. I have uploaded a seperate file of just the backing for you to practice along to once learnt. Thanks.

This one is difficult. This lesson is based on the Paleologou version so it is a challenge to play. The hammers are very fast so if you are unable to play them it is better to leave them out and play the notes straight. Always try to play as clear as possible. If you are finding some of the lessons difficult, copy any of the phrases you can (slowed down at the end), and use them as little exercises. I never ever practice exercises (life's too short), I only use songs that are challenging to me to exercise my fingers. Kales Penies.

This lesson is a special request for my friend George "greektrucker". For the backing, I have played mainly real instruments, ie. real bass, baglama, tsoura, guitars, piano, ect. This makes it sound more authentic as opposed to sampler instruments. I would have liked to have used my trixordo on this song, but it needs a service, however on the taximi you will notice that I tuned my Varla F string down to a D which gives the effect of a trixordo. The first time I ever played in public was when I was a very very young boy, at Tsitanis' concert when he came to London at Alexandra palace in the 70s. I played two songs, one was 'pame tsarka' and the other was quite likely sinefiasmeni kuriaki, as these were amongst the first songs I learnt. I have the photos but what I would give to find a copy of the video. Some of the phrasing is not so easy but take what you can and eventually with other lessons, it should all come together. Thanks.

www.youtube.com This is a composition I made out of different (Greek) pieces. I played it on the New Year's concert at Theresia, the high school on which I spent 6 years of my life. We performed the piece with the Chamber orchestra Alveare. I want to say a big thank you to Sander Teepen, the conductor of Alveare, the members of the orchestra of course, and Peter Hamers, my old music teacher, who wrote the tablature for the orchestra and who helped a lot in the preperations for this event. I would also like to thank Rens de Grauw for recording this performance and putting a lot of effort in making this video to what it is. We wanted this piece to be like a crossover between classical music and Greek music. I think this is a wonderful combination since I love classical music, and therefore is was a great pleasure for me to coorporate with the orchestra Alveare. I hope you enjoy the video!!!
