Brazil Holiday Destination

Brazil is the largest country in Latin America. It spreads across almost half of South America, and occupies a total area of 8,5 mio km2. It is the fifth largest country in the world. Except for a small number of islands, Brazil is a single and continuous landmass. The Equator crosses through the Northern region, near Macapa, and the Tropic of Capricorn cuts through the South of the country, near São Paulo. The official language is Portuguese; the accent and the intonation, however, are very different from what one hears in Portugal and other former Portuguese colonies. Some people say that Brazilians speak "Brazilian". The mixture of races has made Brazil a culturally rich and at the same time unique country.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Rio de Janeiro Brazil

From the world-famous beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema to the tops of scenic outlooks of Corcovado and Pão de Açúcar to the dance halls, bars and open-air cafes that proliferate the city, cariocas live for the moment without a care in the world. Rio de Janeiro, commonly referred to simply as Rio, is the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the second largest city of Brazil, and the third largest metropolitan area and agglomeration in South America, boasting approximately 6.3 million people making it the 6th largest in the Americas, and 26th in the world.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Salvador de Bahia Brazil

Known as the "Land of Happiness," this tropical port city is home to a unique blend of cultures and ethnicities, making it one of the world's most fascinating and exotic locations. The historic city center, Pelhourino, delights visitors with its immaculately preserved colonial architecture and baroque churches, while the Barra beachfront neighborhood is filled with hip nightclubs and outdoor cafes. Bahia's capital of Salvador (the city was generally referred to as "Bahia") is located on a cape of land sticking south south-west into the Atlantic Ocean. And although it sits well within the tropics at a southern latitude of thirteen degrees, it receives a refreshing sea-breeze which seldom falters until the wee hours of the morning when things have generally cooled off anyway. The city sits on a huge bay, a Baia de Todos os Santos (the Bay of All Saints), and the topography is predominently hill and valley.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Brazil for Business

São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro used to be the only destination for foreign professionals coming to Brazil, but this scenario has changed over the past 10 years. The preparation for the 2014 World Cup and the oil exploitation on the Brazilian shores have been leading to a distribution of job offer throughout Brazil. Since Manaus has been chosen to host matches of the 2014 World Cup, a lot has been invested in infrastructure and services, specially regarding accommodation. Over the last four years, the Brazilian Northeast has been significantly increasing its consuming level. Shopping malls have grown 60% in two years, impulsing the local economy. The Brazilian central-west is a strong player in the agribusiness sector as it is one of the major exporters of commodities. As the three states composing central-west are landlocked, a competent logistic sector has been a challenge in this area. São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, has been the final destination for most foreigners coming to Brazil. São Paulo still is the Brazilian city with the highest concentration of jobs and high skilled professionals.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Brazil Unique Biodiversity

The Atlantic Forest of tropical South America boasts 20000 plant species, 40 percent of which are endemic. Yet, less than 10 percent of the forest remains. More than two dozen Critically Endangered vertebrate species are clinging to survival in the region, including three species of lion tamarins and six bird species that are restricted to the small patch of forest near the Murici Ecological Station in northeastern Brazil. With almost 950 kinds of birds occurring in this hotspot, there are many unique species including the red-billed curassow, the Brazilian merganser, and numerous threatened parrot species.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation. Golf in Brazil

Brazil has excellent golf greens in its top travel destinations. Sao Paulo has dozens of golf clubs and greens. Rio de Janeiro - and its surroundings: Angra dos Reios, Buzios - has also world class golf. Iguassu Falls (in the inland south) and Manaus (at the heart of the Amazon) offer also top golf opportunities. And Bahia has some of the greatest greens of the nation in Trancoso, Costa do Sauipe or Comandatuba Island. There are around 100 clubs registered with the Brazilian Golf Federation, and 40 of them are located in the country's wealthiest state, São Paulo. Another 10 of the clubs are registered with the Rio de Janeiro Federation. The Brazilian Golf Federation (Confederação Brasileira de Golfe - CBG) and the WorldGolfDirectory.com have information on golf clubs and driving ranges throughout Brazil. In Brazil, golf is a year-round sport. Although there is an official season which generally runs from February or March (depending upon Carnival) until November, this may vary from club to club. In São Paulo, the rainy season is December and January, with downpours almost every day in late afternoon or early evening.Video brought to you by Travelindex Network and Travel & Tourism Foundation.
