"It's unconstitutional to ban an entire class of weapons, one that the public find most useful for self-defense," says Charles Nichols, president of California Right To Carry and the man behind the first lawsuit to challenge California's open carry gun ban. Nichols sat down with Reason.tv's Tim Cavanaugh to discuss his lawsuit, which is actually targeting the original ban from the 1970s that prohibited the carrying of loaded weapons. They discussed his prospects for success, as well as California's extremely strict gun control laws and how they might hold up in a post-DC v. Heller world. For more details on this case, go here. Sporting a dark green tie purc and a New York Jets sports cap, now former USC Quarterback Mark Sanchez came down to the Interview Room at Radio City Music Hall to a small group of media people including yours truly about 30 minutes ago from the start of this blog post. Sanchez fielded a set of questions starting with my query to determine if it was true he left USC early to avoid the possibility of losing to Cal this year. The Jets' newest signal called got a kick out of that one and recalled the last game played at Berkeley, a rain-soaked affair that USC won when John David Booty was the quarterback, 24-17. On the matter of how it feels to be a jet, "Oh," he sighed, "It's really special. I'm really grateful that Mr Mike Tannenbaum (Jets GM) and Mr. Woody Johnson (Jets owner) made the trade (up to the number 5th pick, trading places with the Cleveland Browns, who gave their first- and second-round picks, and adding defensive end Kenyon Coleman, safety Abram Elam and quarterback Brett Ratliff) But Sanchez added "Nothing's been accomplished yet, I've only gotten into a uniform. Jackson has 25 years of coaching experience in college and professional football and has been an offensive coordinator at both levels. Oakland Raiders Owner Al Davis spoke about the dynamic 45-year-old Jackson: "The fire in Hue will set a flame that will burn for a long time in the hearts and minds of the Raider football team and the Raider Nation." Last year, Jackson coordinated an Oakland Raiders offense that finished fourth in the AFC and sixth in the NFL in scoring (25.6 points per game). The Raiders more than doubled their scoring output from the previous year, totaling 410 points in 2010. Under Jackson's guidance, the Raiders also finished fifth in the AFC and 10th in the NFL in total offense (354.6 yards per game) and second in the NFL and AFC in rushing (155.9 yards per game). Prior to joining the Raiders, Jackson spent two seasons as Baltimore's quarterbacks coach and helped the Ravens advance to the postseason in 2008 and 2009. This man says he witnessed the beating death of Kelly Thomas by Fullerton police on July 5, 2011. Here are the notable claims: The police officers were shouting "stop resisting" while the homeless man lay still and cried out for his dad. There was video taken by a local real estate agent, but the police wanted to look at it and now nobody knows where it went. The beating was very bloody, went on for 10 or 15 minutes and stopped when man went silent. The man was Tasered several times during the beating Approximately 50 people witnessed the beating, but they were reluctant to give police a statement on what they saw.

Over the past couple of years, the medical marijuana industry in Los Angeles has exploded. Estimates vary, but there may be as many as 800 dispensaries currently open for business in the city of angels. An ordinance recently passed by the LA city council, however, is about to change all that. The new ordinance will force hundreds of dispensaries to close and all but a few to relocate. The goal was to bring clarity to the medical marijuana industry, but the only thing that's clear is that the transition process will be difficult. Especially now that the DEA has begun raiding dispensaries again, despite the promises made by the Obama administration. JAMES DEAN LAST INTERVIEW TRAGIC DEATH Born (February 8, 1931 -- September 30, 1955) was a cultural icon, best embodied in the title of his most celebrated film, Rebel Without a Cause (1955), in which he starred as troubled Los Angeles teenager Jim Stark. The other two roles that defined his stardom were as loner Cal Trask in East of Eden (1955), and as the surly farmer, Jett Rink, in Giant (1956). Dean's enduring fame and popularity rests on his performances in only these three films, all leading roles. His premature death in a car crash ensured his legendary status.
