The CAM sensor or camshaft position sensor's role is to signal the ECM the camshaft position. The crank and cam sensor operate in sync with each other. Without the CAM sensor the vehicle may not even start and cause hard starting. Camshaft position sensor replacement. It controls the vanos solenoid. When this part fails you will feel jumping in your pickup. This part is fairly simple to replace. You will need to remove the Vanos solenoid; A large wrench or channel locks should do the trick. Unplug it, remove it along with the pcv hose. Then remove the oil fiter cap and oil hose bolt. Be careful not to lose the washer. Then remove the screw holding in the camshaft position sensor. I used a t30 socket. But it was fastened with an Allen screw 5mm. The plug for the sensor is in the under the middle of the manifold hanging there loosely by where the pcv valve assembly is. To assemble reverse what you did. Should take about 20 minutes to an hour depending on your experience. If this part was faulty you will feel an immediate difference in pick up. Especially on the low end torque. I no longer need to dump my clutch to do massive burn outs. Thats it the difference i felt. All the work done on my car cost me very little. But the result is better than some who have spent thousands to get half what I have making my own parts. For instance the motor mounts are to soft to do anything crazy, so I used a deep well socket and some sway bar bushings and a long nut and bolt with washers to replace the soft mounts after I had broken some expensive mounts. I decide metal it the only thing that can handle the torque. Vibration and noise has increased as a side effect of this. I probably will never do a vid on this.

A bad camshaft synchro was driving me nuts with it's chirping and recently was causing some bucking/missing from the engine at high rpms. There was a TSB on this...google it, it's there (search for "ford 3.0L cam synchronizer tsb"). This worked out well for me, but I'm not a mechanic. I have no professional mechanical training. As you saw in my other video of the Sebring, it kept stalling and the check engine light FINALLY came on a few weeks ago out of no where stating a Cam sensor malfunction occured. Tonight the car didnt want to move again, kept stalling. I replaced it with a new one, a relatively easy job, especially if you remove the upper radiator hose (if you can get those damn clamps off that is). The part cost $50, and 20 min of my time.

What im saying in the video: 1.Loosen your lug nuts just a little bit (Spray WD40 b4 loosening them, IT HELPS) 2. Open your hood and disconnect your negative battery terminal (black) 3. Jack up your car (front passenger side) Stock jack works but aftermarket jacks and jack stands recommended for safety. 4. Once the wheel is off the ground remove the lug nuts completely.(don't loose your lug nuts) 5.Remove your splash guards as seen in the video.(don't loose the small pins) 6.Use a Adjustable wrench or a socket and a ratchet to move the spring-loaded tensioner and slip the belt off the alternator pulley.(you can remove the whole belt off all the pulleys)...
