We spent 10 days on Vancouver. Most of that time was spent in one of my favorite places, Barkley Sound. It's an area with 150 islands in a 5 mile radius. We canoed from one island to the next, camping on them. On a technical side, it was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. Most of the shots were done with the Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series. A Nikon 50mm 1.8 adapter, and a Nikon 70-200 2.8 with Canon/Nikon lens adapter. The smooth shots were done with a glidecam 2000. This entire film was filmed on the island of Kauai over a 9 day period. The first 3 days were spent hiking the Napali coast, a 11 mile hike along the coast. We did this for 3 days. After this we spent 2 more days exploring the island. I did this with 8 other friends. After the 5 days were up with them, they all flew back to Oahu where everyone was living, and I stayed on the island on my own for 4 more days. I had a rental truck, that's how I got around. I didn't want to spend money on hotels though, so I slept in the truck, in a Walmart parking lot for the other 4 nights. A lot of cars get broken in on the island of Kauai, according to rumors, so that's why I would camp in the parking lots, so I was a lot more exposed if someone tried to break in where I was sleeping That way i wouldn't get robbed, raped, or murdered, ha. At night when I got done filming, I would go into the only Walmart on the island, where they also have a McDonald's, and I would bum off there wi-fi with my ipod touch, and plot my path for the next day, then I would head out before the break of dawn every morning, and I would get back after sunset to do it all over again. She's also the head soccer coach at BYU Hawaii. We did all the filming on the island of Oahu, in Hawaii. On a technical side, it was all shot on the Canon 5D Mark II, and for two special shots we did those with the GoPro HD. I wanted to try and give people the "perspective" of the soccer ball, so what we did was we duck taped a GoPro HD camera to the soccer ball. I then hid behind a tree so I wasn't in the shot, and then Carolyn, the soccer girl in the video kicked the ball up as high as she could, that's how we got that shot. As far as lenses go, the only lens I used was a Canon 16-35mm 2.8 L Series lens. For the underwater shots with the ocean, I used a SPL housing specifically made for a Canon 5D Mark II. I usually film all my movies at 24fps, however with this one, I wanted to try something new/experiment with. So I filmed all the shots with Carolyn at 30fps. I then conformed them with cinematools to 24fps. By doing this it slowed down the clips just a little bit, so they are barely played in slowmotion. My test on very low light with my new camera : Canon 5D Mark 2 , with EF 24-105 L IS USM Lens! So amazing that in a very low light condition with ISO 6400, I can still capture a video and also with really low noise, which if I did it with my Olympus E-PL1, of course it would be nothing but blackness and noises! XD And of course this is not even the real quality because youtube decrease the original quality a lot,,, but anyway, I love it so much!!! XD O yeah, also, because none of us actually a smoker on our family, so I use Trapcode Particular on After Effects for the smoke :D

We also made trips out to nearby Osaka, Nara, and Koyasan. Especially in the winter, the snow was beautiful in the Mount Koya cemetery world-heritage. On the technical side, we shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and Sony A65. The 5D was mounted on a Glidecam HD-2000 with the Nikon 24mm f/1.4G lens for the flying shots. Shot this on a Canon 5D Mark II (and a few shots on a Canon XHA1 with a Cinemek adapter). This is just a random montage I whipped up in 20mins of only a portion of shots we filmed. I basically randomly tossed shots into this edit until I filled up the duration of the song. There is a lot of beautiful stuff left out, and soon enough I'll cut a well thought-through montage. To even camp on the trail you have to have a permit, and the waiting list is HUGE. It took my dad 4 years to finally win the lottery that allowed us to do the hike. It was started like a practice shoot on a Sunday with the new camera but luckily we could take enough footage for a short music video. This was shot in just 4 hours. The idea of making a music video came up in the morning around 9AM and we started after lunch and by evening we finished the shoot. The choreographer composed the dance steps at the location and the artists quickly grasped and without many retakes they performed the dances. Thanks to Music Director Sravan for giving such a catchy and inspirational tune. He is a very talented music director and he is right now caught in a wrong job(ie, Software). This video highlights several clips we've made using our new High Dynamic Range (HDR) process. Video is captured on two Canon 5D mark II DSLRs, each capturing the exact same subject via a beam splitter. The cameras are configured so that they record different exposure values, eg, one camera is overexposed, the other underexposed. After the footage has been recorded, we use a variety of HDR processing tools to combine the video from the two cameras, yielding the clips you see above. HDR Video provides filmmakers with many exciting new opportunities. Not only can HDR video create interesting effects, it can also allow for even exposure where artificial lighting is unavailable or impractical. For example, when a subject is backlit, one camera could be set to properly expose the subject, the other the sky, resulting in video with perfect exposure throughout. A clip illustrating how "auto focus" is possible on the 5D Mark II in movie mode. Some people are not aware that the "Live Mode" style of auto focus used in Live View can be used while shooting video on the 5D MK II. While this is less than ideal because of noise and change in the shot exposure, it is a way to have the camera verify that the shot is in focus. I don't like to use this style of focus, but it may be useful to some of you debating on using this camera for video.

From a recent trip to Phuket, home to some of the bluest waters and most stunning beaches and scenery in the world. Highlights include Maya Bay / Maya Beach (where "The Beach" was filmed), Phang Nga Bay, Koh Phi Phi, James Bond Island (where one of the first 007's was filmed; aka Khao Phing Kan). The video footage was filmed using a Canon 5D Mark II.

The beautiful mix of new and old still entrance me today. We filmed for 2 weeks to capture that stark beauty in HD. As we visited during the New Year, we were lucky to attend the "dezuiri" sumo ring-entering ceremony, which you'll see in the opening shot. We also captured "yumi hajime" (first archery practice of the year) as well as "hatsumode" (first shrine visit of the year) at Asakusa. On the technical side, we shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and Sony A65. The 5D was mounted on a Glidecam HD-2000 with the Nikon 24mm f/1.4G lens for the flying shots. The Sony A65 was shot with the Zeiss 24mm f/2 and Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 lenses. Music by Stephen Anderson Leave a comment, thanks!

This video is a demo shot entirely with Canon's 5D MarkII DSLR camera. It is a six minute three-section video demonstration of a photoshoot and digital image composition process. The video is mainly intended to demonstrate the capabilities of the camera and to share our joy of creation through behind-the-scenes pictures. You are able to follow our muse and model, Anna Zsiros, throughout the entire process which creatively and gradually assembles into a final image. Agi Horacsek deserves credit for greatly improving upon the original concept with her creative application of makeup. Her creativeness added a slick edge to the unquestionable beauty of our successful Hungarian female fashion model, Anna. With the introduction of HD video recording in the recent Canon cameras, even us photographers have the possiblity to experience new fields of expressing our creativity using the same bodies and lenses for both media. While using these new photocameras the models hardly know whether you are recording video or shooting stills. This allows the shooter to catch moments that normally never occur in front of an ordinary camera because the subject is not aware that he or she is being recorded as a video capture. We've enjoyed this 'feature' extensively. We would like to thank for all those who have contributed to the development and production of this product so far.
