Making Greeting Cards from Recycled Paper

You can make your own pretty and colourful greeting cards out of recycled cardboard--all for free! Just save nice cardboard packaging and colourful wrapping papers and things. Cut out some card-sized pieces of paper. Fold them, nicely, as you like, then decorate them with cut-out shapes of assorted colours. I made hearts, here, but you could use flowers, stars, paper dolls, or any shape you would like to snip out. Or even cut out nice pictures out of magazines, etc. Or use rubber stamps and inks; or colourful stickers from the newsagent's. All you need is some coloured card, a pair of scissors, and a pot of glue. Use some tissues or a cloth to pat the glued cut-out pieces dry and into place. Use your creativity and imagination. Become a child, again, and have fun. You'll save money as well. Why waste ca$h on cards when you can create your own? .....

The Pied Piper: On Yamaha Descant Recorders

Here I am, again. This time demonstrating how to make a cardboard mute for a descant recorder. (It will also work on other sized recorders, too.) Cardboard recorder mutes are excellent for children to use when practising at home or school, as they will spare everyone else's eardrums from the piercing shrill sound--which can get on other people's nerves! (Even cats have been known to run out of the room when I play my descant recorder!) I discuss Yamaha plastic descant recorders, and how they may be recombined--creatively and innovatively--to produce even more interesting colour combinations to accessorise one's clothing with. So make the most of their interchangeable parts. I also mention a Taiwanese Yamaha look-alike recorder, that doesn't work as well. (A cheap imitation that does not play the whole scale properly.) Yes, the idea of plastic recorders flecked with glitter is nice. But what about glow-in-the-dark phosphorescent recorders? Like the modern glow-in-the-dark toilet seats and condoms? And even temperature-sensitive recorders that will change colour according to one's mood? Like those 1970s "mood rings". (I had a plastic noodle fork, recently, given away by Maggi, that would change colours according to the temperature of the soup. Very pretty to watch.) My only complaint about the pretty-coloured dishwasher-safe candy-coloured Yamaha recorders is that their transparent quality allows others to see the condensation and saliva buildup occurring inside the ...

Weathering a House (Long Version) - Modelmates Spray Dye

Modelmates is a translucent, water soluble weathering spray dye that makes things look dirty, old and weathered. It dries fast and is quick and easy to use and is ozone friendly. It is not a paint. Modelmates comes in 8 colours:- Soot black: A really matt black, almost like coal residue. Slate Grey: Black/blue slate grey colour. Light grey: Very light grey. Mud Brown: Muddy, dirty colour. Like spraying a layer of mud. Oil brown: Dirty Oil green/brown. Similar to Mud brown, but slightly oily green. Sand brown: Light brown, slightly golden sandy brown colour. Rusty Red: Rich rusty red/brown colour. Moss green: Dirty mossy/khaki green colour. Modlmates is translucent and does not cover or colour like a paint. Spray it on and you still see the surface underneath. The different colours just make surfaces look dirty in different ways. Mud Brown makes them look muddy dirty while Rust Red makes them rusty dirty. Its most visible on light coloured surfaces and least visible on darker ones, but you still see the dirty effect even on very dark surfaces. It can be used on many types of models and landscapes, such as plastic and cardboard model wagons, carriages, buildings, platforms and roads to make them look dirty and old. Soot Black makes ballast and tracks look as black as coal residue and Oil Brown and Rusty Red makes them look just dirty. Moss green gives the colour of moss to buildings and ballast. Spray on grass, trees, shrubs to create darker and lighter patches. Use it ...

The Family Cat: Airplane Gardens - 1993

Directed by TIm Riley. This promo was commissioned by BMG/RCA after I submitted a storyboard, style treatment and proposal. The video was based on a single image from a Salvador Dali photograph after the group's singer, Paul Frederick, had said the lyrics were conceived while reading a book about surrealism. The Family Cat were a rising indie guitar band at time of this video. They had received music industry plaudits from their early releases and were the darlings of the NME. The band wanted a video that would try and portray their live experience without filming a live gig. Shooting on film in a studio in Cricklewood I used coloured lights and cardboard shapes to create over-lapping colours in the camera and avoid expensive post production costs. All the film was shot portrait rather than landscape to speed up the editing process when the split screen was composed. The video was very well received by both the record company and band. Airplane Gardens single spent one week in the charts following the video's brief appeared on ITV's The Chart Show. As they were now signed to a major label and about to release their "difficult" third album the band were expected to deliver regular chart success. Their following two singles failed to have an impact on the charts and as a result they were unable to attain the heights of their indie contemporaries like Blur and Elastica. www.timrileydigital.com

Fashionista - Entry 1

Photo for minigreenfrog's Fashionista, Theme: Fairytale. This isn't the best, I admit it. I just didn't want to do the typical princess thing. x3 And yes, I'm old-fashioned, I wrote faerie instead of fairy. xD Faerie just seems so much mystical than "fairy", I dunno why. x] So, the headdress is a pearl on a grey string which I twisted a bit, the skirt is made out of a stereotypical poncho thing with shiny plastic leaves sown on. The cape is something which I just cut out from a velvety fabric and sown together, and the wings are from cardboard paper, and coloured in with pencils, colourpens, and four shiny stars. ;) All music by Kevin MacLeod - Licensed under Creative Commons "Attribution 3.0" (creativecommons.org (www.incompetech.com)

Slideshow of progress shots from start to finish of Ty's 2nd birthday Roary the Racing Car cake. The cake was chocolate mud cake, I used chocolate buttercream icing and ready to roll fondant, I bought the black pre-coloured and coloured the read and green myself. . The wheels were made using a couple of round biscuits sandwiched together using icing, then covered in fondant, and all the metallic parts were painted using silver lustre dist mixed with a little alcohol to make a paste. I made a setup board in the shape of the cake using stuff cardboard covered in foil which made moving the cake to its final board a lot easier. Any questions, please ask! There are some pics of my other cakes on my blog shinytcakes.blogspot.com

PUBESTORMER

The Worlds Fastest man-made Speedcubing Cardboard box. Built entirely from high end early eighties Japanese technology with a ten year old web camera to scan the faces of the cube, The solve engine (algorithm) running on Ollys mac is provided by the incredible pirated software which also provides the colour recognition required to determine the exact location of each coloured square. Thanks to Pat Sharp for making his work available to anyone wishing to use it! Respect! The PubeStormer has the ability to produce very fast solutions to a successfully scanned cube, usually around 20 face turns! Doesn't sound a lot , but it is believed that around 20 turns are enough to solve ANY 3x3x3 cube combination. I'm still working on "PubeStormer" I would like to see it solve a cube before I have time to take my hand out and feel it's close to that. but reliability begins to suffer when you start to push things just that bit too far, Im also worried it will try to solve my hand..... Special thanks to Kiss and Journey for their assistance with the software interface to Pube Explorer. ....Enjoy !

Se volete vedere la ricetta delle basi passate sul mio blog: blog.giallozafferano.it It's a maxi moretta, to the base (to a rectangular baking 30x40cm) and a slightly smaller Scaup 28x35 for the notebook itself. For great baking I used 10 eggs, 500gr flour, sugar, 330 ml packaged milk, yeast 3 165ml oil, 165 gr cocoa; For the other instead 7uova, 380gr 380gr sugar, flour, 250 ml milk, yeast 2 oil, 127 127ml gr of cocoa. Stuffed with cream like strict rocher and nanny. Therefore, I state that was a long work and recommend it to anyone who wants to try to break it up into at least three days. 1) pdz preparation day (coloured or not, as you wish. I made black, grey and white base) and structure that will support the notebook's screen. In fact, the cake is edible, with the exception of screen because covered cake was really too heavy for what I bought a sheet of plexiglass and next to a stove I modeled by giving him the curvature of laptops. But then I needed something to give depth to the video, and then I took the carton, I clipped the measure that I had the lower part of the pc and I pasted the cardboard to plexiglass. Then you must combine the cardboard copy of desktop (you get with the program ' capture ' that every computer) and above this photocopy I had to tape an acetate to give the illusion of the screen 2) the second day I have prepared the keys of the keyboard I have prepared a scheme and I'm done piece by piece each single button. Raise The Titanic Movie Model 2002

This is a selection of images showing the replica movie model of the TITANIC as seen in ITC's 1980 movie 'Raise The Titanic'. I built the model back in 2002, using the 1/350th scale (30inch) Minicraft kit as a basis. I used 'TomsModelworks' brass photo etched railings, ladders, skylights, benches, grills and skylight covers for the fine detailing. The rest of the fittings I created using scratchbuilding techniques. Each deck was weathered and applied with 'Evergreens' sceanic fine chippings to create the impression of mud and underwater growth. Then the whole model was sprayed with fine stone-chip to create a rough textured appearance. Once dried, various coats of coloured paint was sprayed on with a matt varnish applied to seal all. On her starboard side is the iceberg gash with ships bulkheads just visible through the tear. Extra ventilators were made and fitted in the correct place as seen on the movie model, such as additional vents on her boat deck and the 3 tall vents which sit either side of her forward mast and forward of the mast. The solid bulkhead which was another feature not on the original TITANIC (1912) was also replicated. Snaked across her stern can be seen the snapped and fallen mast radio ariel. The cover over the grand staircase is also still intact, just like the movie model at the moment the TITANIC is discovered. The seabed was created last from 1/8th ply base sitting atop raised sides. Cardboard was used to create the seafloor as it steps up and ...
