I hope you enjoy my Seymour Duncan vs. Carvin pickup comparison. If you think my videos are helpful, consider making a donation through my website: www.dmometalguitar.com After ordering my custom Carvin V220 guitar, I decided to swap the original C22 bridge pickup with Seymour Duncans Invader SH-8 pickup. The installation was relatively easy because both are passive pickups and are about the same size. I just had to get a different ring because Carvins original ring has three screws (rather than two) to adjust the pickup height. Indeed, as many people have said, the Invader has a really high output. It made the guitar heavier and more distorted, but overall it did not affect the guitars natural sound. Contrary to popular belief, its the wood - not the pickups - the primary factor in defining a guitars sound. Based on my tests with numerous guitars, different pickups will add different spices, but the guitar will still sound somewhat the same. The C22 has higher mids, while the Invader has higher lows. It wouldnt be fair to say one is better than the other. Although I prefer the Invaders sound, I have no doubt some players will prefer the C22s sound. My Carvin V220 is made of alder body and maple neck. It comes with the original Floyd Rose tremolo made by Schaller.

Just got my Carvin! It's a semi-custom build with my specifications. It sounds pretty darned great. It definitely plays amazing. The guitar itself is a beautiful piece of work, like always. The pickups are pretty good as well, they are Carvin made. I can get some sweet Andy Timmons tones with the coil splits and with a heavy lead it sounds like Tony MacAlpine. I'm not the biggest fan of Tony Mac's tone, so I'm probably gonna switch out the pickups for Dimarzios or Bareknuckles for the heavier/shreddier stuff I do. However, they are still great pickups, and sound awesome for rock.

Carvin Belair guitar amplifier. I dig the clean channel. The "soak" channel not so much. It's ok, but might try that Hasserl (sp?) mod, the diode removal one. It's a well built amp, nice and solid. Feels like it would last for ever. The clean channel is worth the price alone. I just use pedals.

A good bro allowed me to try out his Carvin V3M. I tweaked channel 1 a bit for some Metal-ish tones but the rest were his settings. It is absolutely amazing what this amp can do straight out of the box. Bottom line: the Carvin V3M is one badass amplifier!
