The Cedars (Sea-ders) I Don't Know Why 1968
This amazing track is from the Lebanon band The Cedars (formerly known as The Sea-Ders *"Thanks A Lot", "Undecidedly" fame*) They had some big hits in their home country but never made it big in England where they recorded this great track. They broke up after being told they had to pay for their studio time after their singles flopped in th UK, so they just left thier instruments and called it a day. A real shame because this band had some amazing material. A new LP (the cover is the pic on the video) with all of their known recordings was just released last year, I highly suggest it!!

Anton Corbijn (Dutch pronunciation: [kɔrˈbɛin]; born 20 May 1955) is a Dutch photographer, music video and film director. He is the creative director behind the visual output of Depeche Mode and U2,having handled the principal promotion and sleeve photography for both for more than a decade. Some of his works include music videos for Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence" (1990) and Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box" (1993), as well as the Ian Curtis biopic Control, George Clooney's The American and the A Most Wanted Man based on John le Carré's 2008 novel of the same name (announced 2011). Corbijn was born in Strijen, the Netherlands. He started his career of music photographer when he saw the Dutch musician Herman Brood playing at a cafe in Groningen (the Netherlands) around 1975. He took a lot of photos of the 'rising star' Herman Brood & His Wild Romance. Because of the pictures taken by Corbijn, Brood's fame rose quickly, and as a result Corbijn's own exposure increased. Corbijn has photographed Joy Division, Depeche Mode, U2, David Bowie, Miles Davis, Björk, Captain Beefheart, Kim Wilde, Robert de Niro, Stephen Hawking, Elvis Costello, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Morrissey, Clint Eastwood, Roxette and Herbert Grönemeyer, amongst others. We needed some cedar bark for some projects to work on and I wanted to have the kids experience removing cedar bark from a live tree and teach them the ethics of proper bark collecting. We harvested some bark from a tree on our land and had a real good time. It took quite a while to actually get the strips off the tree. It was a good day. We wil be able to watch the tree as it heals itself from the process. Never remove more than a quarter of the bark on a tree. The best places to collect bark is from a recent clear cut where there are numerous trees already cut down. Never needlessly damage the cedars. The forest has eyes.....

Al-Shouf Cedar Reserve - Maasser Cedar Forest, Lebanon
Al-Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve is a nature reserve in the Chouf District of Lebanon. It is located on the slopes of Barouk mountain and has an area of 550 km2, nearly 5.3% of the Lebanese territory. The reserve contains the Lebanon Cedar forests of Barouk, Maaser el Shouf and Ain Zhalta. It is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and Eco-tourism area. It hosts 32 species of wild mammals, 200 species of birds, and 500 species of plants. The cedar forests of Lebanon enjoy the unique distinction as the oldest documented forests in history. The cedars were important enough in the history of man to be traceable to the very earliest written records, that of the Sumerians in the third millennium BC. In the ancient Sumerian story, The Epic of Gilgamesh, one of the oldest pieces of literature in the world, the Cedars feature prominently. Gilgamesh has since been recognized as King Gilgamesh of history and in probability visited Mount Lebanon. Some cedars are estimated to be 2000 years old. Shot on the 13th of september during SS 3,7,11 Bsarma-Darayya, North-Lebanon. Rally of the Cedars is often a preparatory rally prior to the biggest annual rally; the Rally of Lebanon (3 days). This rally is however very demanding for the cars and drivers, altitude varies from 200 meters to 2000 meters. This stage is Probably the trickiest one of this rally, very twisty , old and dusty asphalt, small roads, some very dangerous corners.
