TAP NY Craft Beer and Food Festival is the premiere beer fest in all of New York State! It keeps getting bigger and better every year. This year there were 41 breweries in attendance! What's nice is it's not just distributors working the booths, the actual breweries themselves pour your beer and are more than happy to talk to you about it. As you'll see in the video I met the guys from Three Heads Brewing and Scott Vaccaro from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, among others. I made a more conscious effort to not get hammered like I did last year. The fact it was a warm, sunny day and I only drank half glasses instead of full glasses also helped. Not surprisingly I bumped in several other BeerTubers which you'll see, plus MANY fans of the show (but only got a few on film). This year's fest was great! Next year I absolutely MUST go BOTH days since there's just not enough time in one day's fest to try everything. Well here it is - the "Roast or Toast" of me (Chad9976). I received about 35 responses - some via YouTube video responses to the "Midder June Vlog" and some via direct email. I was absolutely flattered that so many people out there wanted to either pat me on the back or elbow my ribs (or both). I tried to include as much footage from each respondent as possible but due to time constraints almost everyone's video was trimmed a little (although a few people who did very creative/funny bits earned extra time). My trip to the 1st Annual Capital Region Craft Brewers Festival held July 24, 2010 at the Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy, New York. This beer fest was put on by Brown's Brewing Co., a local microbrewery that I've visited a few times on Chad'z Beer Reviews. Although not quite as big as TAP NY, the CRCBF was still a lot of fun! It was well organized. There were no long lines or rowdy people. It was very hot, though! The temperature was in the high 80s with the heat index in the mid-90s! It was so hot we were sweating off the alcohol faster than we could drink it. I've never drank so much beer and been so disproportionately intoxicated in my life! I went with my friend Chad B., who is a homebrewer and appeared in two episodes of Chad'z Beer Reviews back in April. We reviewed one beer from each brewery and usually tried the same beer each so you got two different perspectives on it. I've been a HUGE fan of the Beastie Boys ever since I heard "Check Your Head" back in the early 90s. After I got that CD I started buying all their "maxi-singles" since they had exclusive remixes and b-sides you couldn't get anywhere else. One eBay became popular I started grabbing up as many official and unofficial BBoys CDs as I could. I was especially interested in "promotional use only" CDs and live concert bootlegs. In fact, I even started making my own artwork for the bootlegs I bought. When it comes to the Beastie Boys it's all about the music for me. I actually am NOT a fan of rap or hip-hop music in general (well, not since the early 90s) but they make such great songs I never get sick of them. Plus they make punk, rock, pop, jazz, metal and everything in between too! They're just such an eclectic band. Maybe that's why it's so much fun to collect their stuff - you never know what obscure tracks you'll find if you hunt them down. The last cider I reviewed was really disappointing, so I decided to play it safe by returning to the Woodchuck brand - namely their fall seasonal. I think Woodchuck is the only major cidery to brew seasonal ciders. I've liked everything else they've done, so let's see what this "Fall" cider is all about. I found this can at a different supermarket than I usually shop at so I decided to give it a try.
