While most other stations (however busy!) only have one elevator to cover an exit, a total of six Otis traction elevators were installed on Changi Airport station, three on each side of the terminal entrance. It was originally anticipated that many travelers would utilise them to bring the baggage trolley to platform level. However in reality they are hopelessly being underused, as there are several escalators providing the main form of transport. It doesn't help that very few use the mezzanine link-bridge above the station platform to cross from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3, since they could use the much faster Skytrain instead during operating hours.
