I was sitting first row over the Padres dugout and managed to record a little bit of history. Chapman was brought in to face Adrian Gonzalez in the 7th inning (2 men on, 2 outs) and blew him away on 3 pitches 100mph+. Then the video shows Chapman in the 8th icing Tony Gwynn Jr. Chapman threw a 105mph ball off the plate, which is the fastest pitch ever recorded in baseball. I was recording the speedgun on the scoreboard at the time because I was still trying to absorb the 104mph pitch which preceeded it! I think the preceeding pitch for a called strike at 104mph was actually more impressive since it showed both power & control. I'm sorry for the so-so videography but this is the first time I had shot video with this new camera (Canon SD4000 IS).... and I was prettty excited too!
