This is a live recording from Choral Evensong in Chichester Cathedral during our tour of England in which we sang at Ely Cathedral and nor Chichester Cathedral. The choirs are made up of the choristers and schola members of Trinity Church in Boston, Massachusetts under the direction of Richard Webster. The Preces and Responses are by Richard Webster. It's must be a wonderful world where so many people can come together to create something like this. Just for the fun of it. Happy's performance was filmed in the spectacular Mead theater at the Schuster Center in Dayton, home of the Dayton Philharmonic. The ceiling of the theater ommemorates the first flight of the Wright brothers with a twinkling starscape from that momentous evening. We were honored to fly with Peter Heins in his vintage 1930 Waco biplane. Much respect to Perfect Perspectives for volunteering to help us create aerial shots using their amazing remote controlled helicopter camera. Many thanks to everyone who helped us make the film. The Washington National Cathedral Choir performed this psalm by Leonard Bernstein with the President's Own Marine Corps Chamber Orchestra on Sept. 11, 2011, as part of the Call to Compassion series of events commemmorating the tenth anniversary of 9/11. In attendance were President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Also performing were Denyce Graves, Patti LaBelle and Alan Jackson. Georgia is next to the fabulous boy soloist.

In 2001 Chichester College took the decision that if it was to succeed in encouraging employers to take on and train apprentices then they should be setting an example within their own staff. The college now employs 58 apprentices working in various directorates within the college. The college benefits by saving on recruitment costs, which then frees up more funds for additional staff. All of their apprentices bring a fresh approach and recent experience of the educational system that they work in. Being part of a large vibrant and busy organisation gives apprentices the opportunity to meet and mix with staff who each have different experiences to share and this environment gives the apprentices confidence which helps shy school leavers to become self assured young adults. Chichester College actively promote Apprenticeships in many ways including leading a breakout seminar at the 2009 AOC conference, writing case studies and helping fellow providers.
The history of Chichester Cathedral begins in 681 when Saint Wilfrid brought Christianity to Sussex and established a Cathedral in Selsey, a small community south of Chichester. After 1066 the Norman policy was that cathedrals should be moved from small communities to larger centres of population. In 1075 the Council of London established the See of Chichester and in 1076 the building of the present cathedral in Chichester was begun under Bishop Stigand. It was completed under Bishop Luffa in time for its dedication to the Holy Trinity in 1108. Richard of Wych, bishop of Chichester from 1245 - 1253, was canonized in 1262 when plans were made to move his body from its first burial place in the Nave to the Retroquire. The ceremony of translation took place on 16 June 1276, in the presence of King Edward I. From that day until the shrine was destroyed in 1538, the Shrine of St Richard attracted pilgrims from all over England and beyond. In 1930 an alter was restored to the site of the shrine. Pleae click here for more information on St Richard. Chichester Cathedral is famous for its modern art which was commissioned mainly during the late 20th century. These include a window by Marc Chagall, a tapestry by John Piper and a painting by Graham Sutherland. However the art in the Cathedral is not all modern it also contains some wonderful early objects including the 12th century Lazarus Reliefs and the Lambert Barnard paintings.
