The announcer does a great job in explaining the dance. This is a dance our Native American Indians relatives do in south eastern Oklahoma....

This is the first in a series of videos that tell the story of Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen leaders that emerged following the Civil War and emancipation among the Choctaw and Chickasaw indians. We hope to bring new insights about the history of people who have not been recognized by historians in general and black historians specifically. This oversight denies the inclusion of some very important and unique American history. We hope to hear from you with your comments about our efforts to bring the history of the Choctaw and Chickasaw Freedmen to life!

At a Pow wow in Oklahoma we saw we saw a dancing that we never see in our tribal area. One was a dance called the "Snake Dance". It was really something to see. Because it was too long I had to cut the video. It is great to see other types of Native dances besides our own. They were very gracious and it was great to watch. Next time I might get out there and dance too...maybe.

Video of Tornado in Chickasaw County Mississippi as it passed just south of Houston, Ms. This tornado killed 3 and injured 7 in the Houston area then later went on to devistate the town of Smithville, Ms killing 20. The damage was just a few shots from the path as it crossed Hwy 15, then again where it crossed hwy 8. I would estimate the damage as an EF4. Trees were snapped and debarked. A large horse trailer was picked up and thrown hundreds of yards landing in a pond. Cars were thrown around like toys. I did not see where it directly hit any well built structures so take my rating with a grain of salt. This tornado left a damage swath between 1/4 and 1/2 mile and was moving very fast through terrible chase terrain.

Choctaw Indian Gary White Deer does a brief talk about the revival of Chickasaw and Choctaw songs and dances. He does a short explanation of dances and songs of the Indian people of the south east. There is a revival of Southeastern Oklahoma tribal songs, dances and style of traditional tribal clothing.

Video of my camping trip to Sulphur, OK and the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. There are far more primitive camping sites available than what I realized. It must be a really popular destination for campers. I was pleased. Its far enough away from the city that you dont feel like youre camping in your backyard, but its not so far that its a pain to drive to. There was just a touch of color left. I can only imagine what the view from Bromide Hill is like at the peak of color. Lots of hardwoods in Sulphur and the Recreation Area. Ill be sure to remember to check it out next year before the leaves fall off. As you can see in the video there was an abundance of wildlife. I saw several really impressive bucks. The coons are apparently tamed to the point that they are a nuisance. One of the park rangers told me they tear up camp sites looking for food. It was surely a surprise to see a wild coon come marching through my camp site. The recreation area has a really nice trail system. There was a troop of scouts or something in my camp area that brought their bicycles to ride the trails. It was pretty chilly. My 25 degree down sleeping bag got a real test. My toes got cold even with wool socks, but I was overall very comfy. I still havent found anything on the net about why there was so much condensation on the outside of my sleeping bag. It was soaked. I guess from my breath inside the bag. Some of it even turned to ice. I wish I had been able to bring some wood for a fire <b>...</b>
