Scientists Create Silk Electronics

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com And now we go to Taiwan, where scientists have found that silk can be used to make electronic transistors. The discovery could lead to the development of flexible, super-fast electronic paper and touch screens. Scientists at Taiwan's National Tsing Hua University have come up with a way to use silk, made by silkworms, in electronics. Hwang Jenn-Chang and a group of doctoral students at the Materials Engineering lab at Tsing Hua University have discovered that silk can be used as an organic thin-film transistor for flexible electronics - such as e-paper, radio-frequency identification tags, and LED displays. According to the scientists, silk could become a flexible and low-cost material for the key components in electronic devices. The researchers boiled silkworm cocoons in a sodium chloride solution to extract proteins - or fibroin - then dissolved the proteins in phosphoric acid to produce liquid silk. The liquid silk forms a membrane which the researchers say can easily be made into insulators in transistors. Hwang says the team had experimented with both organic and inorganic materials, but discovered the advantages of silk within just a few trials. [Hwang Jenn-Chang, Materials Engineering Professor, Tsing Hua University]: "I think it's a gift from heaven. In late 2009, one of my students, Chung-Hwa, he proposed to use silk as an insulator for organic thin-film ...

Guqin 古琴Yuan Jung-ping performs Lament of Departure on Guqin, 袁中平古琴演奏長亭怨慢

Mr Yuan Jung-ping, the founder of New York Qin Society as well as Chung Hua Guqin Society [中華古琴協會], and a Guqin instructor in Nanhua University [Taiwan] held a few close and intimate Guqin workshops in Chung-dao Tang [中道堂], Catskill, NY. He brought with him a Chung-dao Qin [中道琴], made by a Qin maker in Taiwan. Chung-dao Qin are Guqin made with 100-year old wood, made under the strict supervision of Mr Yuan Jung-ping. It uses traditional silk strings, instead of the modern metal strings. The piece performed is Chang Ting Yuan Man [長亭怨慢], which I loosely translated it to "Lament of Departure." Lyric written by a Song Dynasty poet Jiang Kui [姜夔, aka. Hermit of the White Stone]. The song itself is an old one, the Guqin music was transcripted by Mr Yuan Jung-ping. The location was in the Chung-dao Tang [中道堂] in Catskill, NY. The lyric is in the song, so I am not recapping them here. Video edited and shot by Henryshoots.com. All rights reserved. Will CCP' New Leadership Bring Vitality to China's Economy?

Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com The global view of China's economy takes a big turn at the end of 2011. The focus is on whether China's economy will manage to achieve a soft landing or will completely collapse in 2012? Many foreign companies have begun short selling their investments in China, diverting to other countries. Will the incoming new leadership of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) bring vitality to China's economy? Economists' analyses show that the economic downturn in the US and Europe are affecting China too. With US and Europe trapped in a seemingly endless crisis, China has very slim chance to collect its external debts. Additionally, with domestic costs' soaring, its exports are starting to slip away. Plus long-term inequitable wealth distribution does little to improve its domestic demand. However, China's biggest headache Is the CCP local authorities' debts. In 2008, to curb the financial crisis, CCP regime encouraged its local authorities to raise mortgage loans over lands. The practice helped local officials to hike local GDP figures, generating a large number of land mortgages. The amount of local debts is huge enough to make banks collapse. Research fellow at Chung-Hua Institution for Economic Research in Taiwan, Prof. Wu Hui-lin, analyses the situation. Prof. Wu thinks that China develops at the expense of its resources. Now the resources are used up, which brings more difficulties to solve such a "natural ...
