Co-Fusion (Community Fusion) is a Tokyo-based techno duo specializing in experimental, noisy, extremely hard breakbeats. The Tokyo-based duo, composed of Shuji Wada and Heigo Tani, rose to prominence in their native land after signing with Japanese techno maestro Ken Ishii's Sublime label in the late '90s. "Cycle" is included in their 1998 debut album 'Co-Fu', driven by complex percussion programming, learnt through hard study of British drum & bass records. Instead of copying older styles, Co-Fusion took that complexity and 'co-fused' it with elements of techno and jazz. The result twists and turns between genres, sounding one minute like 4Hero in a sound clash with Jeff Mills, the next as if Art Blakey and Kraftwerk had stumbled into the same studio.
