Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen (September 19, 2011) The roast was taped in Los Angeles on September 10, 2011, and was broadcast on September 19, 2011 exactly one hour after Ashton Kutcher's first episode of replacing Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Roasters included Mike Tyson, Jeff Ross, Anthony Jeselnik, Steve-O, William Shatner, Kate Walsh, Jon Lovitz, Patrice O'Neal and Amy Schumer. Slash made an appearance playing his guitar during Sheen's entrance. Harvey Levin from TMZ was scheduled to appear but ended up not doing so. During an interview on The View, Sheen's ex-wife, Denise Richards stated that she hadn't been invited to appear and, while she thought roasting her ex-husband could be humorous and that he would be able to take it, she feared it would have a negative impact on their daughters.[23] Sheen's famous family members, Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheen, were unable to attend as they were promoting their film The Way, although Martin appeared in a commercial for the roast, spoofing his film Apocalypse Now. Brooke Mueller, Aaron Paul, Corbin Bernsen, Duane "Dog" Chapman, Michael Boatman and Richard Kind appeared in the audience. Seth MacFarlane made his third appearance as the roastmaster. Mike Ferrucci is a good friend and one of my comedy idols. He is a world class comedy writer and a great comic. He is unique because while being one of the best joke writers around, he also is a wonderful long form writer, in both comedy and drama. He visited straight from The Comedy Central Roast offices where he just started working on The Charlie Sheen Roast. Mike has done all of them, the one's you remember, a lot of them are Mike's. He's written for Howard Stern, Air America and of course Triumph The Insult Comic Dog and many others over the years. Mike was a Stand Up legend in San Francisco, and when he moved to LA with a movie script, he got very depressed to find that everyone had a script. Review Of The Roast Of Charlie Sheen On Comedy Central Comedy Central's Charlie Sheen Roast was great. Bawdy, raunchy, no fear, take no prisoners, adult humor. Guitarist Slash played and accompanied Charlie as he made his entrance. The best part of the roast was that the guest of honor was not the only one feeling the heat. Everyone on the dais took a turn at turning on the burn, not only to Sheen but also to each other, and to roast-master Seth MacFarlane. Every good party needs a good guest mix and this one was eclectic: Heavy-weight boxing champ Mike Tyson, actors William Shatner, Jon Lovitz, and Kate Walsh, Jackass' SteveO, and comedians Jeffrey Ross, Amy Schumer, Patrice O'Neal and Anthony Jeselnik. All were funny but for my tastes the stand-ups who stood out were Jeffrey Ross, Amy Schumer, and Anthony Jeselnik. Jeffrey Ross was irreverently resplendent in a wacky Khadafi costume, and his timing was effortless. Two words: Ross 'killed'. i'd not seen Amy Schumer prior to the roast but i'm now glad i have. This gal is not just funny, she shoots from the lip with the confidence and accuracy of a sharp-shooter. Anthony Jeselnik was another i'd not had the pleasure of seeing before, but he's got my attention now. Masterfully deadpan funny. Even when he wasn't speaking his sly smile and wicked eyebrow arch had me giggling.
