At the onset of the confirmation of charges hearings which kicked off yesterday afternoon at The Hague, the defence lawyers raised concerns that the prosecution has not furnished them with exonerating evidence against their clients, as required. Eldoret north mp William Ruto's lead counsel David Hooper told the court that all the prosecutor had provided was incriminating evidence, indicating a failure on Ocampo's part to equally investigate exonerating circumstances for the suspects. Presiding judge Ekaterina Trendafilova on her part stated that the Kenya government's request to have two representatives attend the proceedings would not be granted as it had no procedural standing with regards to the ongoing proceedings.
