This week, you'll look like a mad genius anytime, anywhere by faking a "magic square". Step 1: pick a number To select a number, write out the digits 1-16 in a 4x4 square. Ask someone to circle any digit they want, and then cross out all the remaining digits in the same row and column. Then, have them pass the square over and ask the next person to do the same thing (using any remaining digits). Continue until four numbers are selected, and add them up to determine a "secret number" to be used for the experiment. (note: no matter which numbers are selected, the result will always be 34. this is critical, because the magic square you "spontaneously" figure out is actually a pre-determined configuration that works ONLY for the number 34!) Step 2: make the square Once you've selected a number, act like you're pulling some major mental gymnastics and start filling in an empty 4x4 square just like so: 16 - 3 - 2 - 13 5 - 10 - 11 - 8 9 - 6 - 7 - 2 4 - 15 - 14 - 1 (watch the episode to see the easy pattern to create this result) Step 3: explain your genius! He will ask you to help him find his father, Fred Wilks who seems to be trapped in Grayditch infested with Fire Ants. -=NOTES=- Doctor Lesko: When speaking with Doctor Lesko about doing the ants task, if you ask for a "serious incentive", he will offer his old lab coat along with the ant perks. Lesko's Lab Coat provides 20 Radiation Resistance and 10 Science. If you kill Doctor Lesko you lose Karma. On his corpse is a 10mm Pistol and the password to his computer, as well as a standard 5 Science lab coat. If you hack Doctor Lesko's terminal near the Fire Ant Queen (don't forget to grab the Big Book of Science beside the terminal), you can send the Inhibitor Pulse yourself and destroy the mutagen sample he is using (FEV). If you choose to destroy the mutagen sample, you have to convince him with a Speech Check, or sufficient Science skill, that it was for the best. The rewards for the quest seem to be the same, although you gain more Karma for destroying the mutagen sample and convincing Doctor Lesko that it was the right thing to do. If you miss the Speech Check Doctor Lesko voids your reward. Behind the terminal is a Nuka-Cola Quantum. I've often thought of opening up a second channel on youtube, on which I could engage in some debates with other users, but every time I ponder the idea I realise that 90% of the time I'd just be bringing people up to speed on what has already been answered a million times in the past. Screw that. The way I see it, this debate ended a few decades ago. Everything that had been brought to the table then is what we're still seeing being brought to the table now. What we "new" or "affirmative" atheists are doing is trying to knock some nails into the coffin so that this whole thing can be put to rest in what Sam Harris so eloquently calls "the vast graveyard of mythology".
