1990 Texas vs. Texas A&M - Second Half
The second half begins with a tribute to the SWC. Gardere is chased and fumbles but the Ag defenders are ruled out of bounds on the recovery with replays inconclusive (although replay not officially used then) and the defenders vehemently argue. UT punts and Ags then fumble to Dronett. UT tries an end around to Cash but they end up missing the FG. Texas gets the ball back and drives down the field with the help of a clutch 3rd down catch by Cash. A leap on 4th and 1 gets a first down, like the 3 man backfield behind Gardere. Walker gets a nice run set up by picture perfect blocking by Scott Gooch on Coryatt and downfield blocks by Brown and Cash. Gooch had one of the best games I have ever seen for a Horn lineman. Samuels takes it in for the TD. 21-14 with the extra point. A&M with the ball drives downfield with some Lewis runs and an end around which is shot to pieces by Dronett. A&M manages to get a 32 yard Lewis TD on 4th down tying it at 21. Robert Wilson with a monster block on the scoring play. Notice how Lewis avoids the milkmen on the sideline. Texas answers with a drive featuring 2 great grabs by Keith Cash and a solid Wilson run. Coryatt pops Wilson in the red zone but UT scores on a Gardere burst to the sideline where he does a VY-on-Lehman move on an Ag LB freezing him to the turf. 28-21 UT. 1990 Texas vs. Texas A&M - First Half
In 1990, after years of frustration, UT sought revenge against the Ags who featured a power running game with Bucky Richardson, 5000 yd runner Darren Lewis, and NFL fullback Robert Wilson. A&M also had a stacked D with loads of NFL talent like Quinten Coryatt (TCU hitter), William Thomas, Kevin Smith, Chris Crooms, and others like Marcus Buckley and Derrick Frazier. I was there in the horseshoe as a student and I'm sure many of you were too on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in front of a national CBS audience. A&M took the opening KO and marched down the field with over 12 runs and no passes for a Lewis TD. Looking dominant, UT could only hope for better times and to their credit Amadee and Leon Fuller did make some adjustments as we see. UT could not do much in the opening drives and A&M got the ball back but despite a pretty end around and some abusing of Dronett (must see) could not complete a 3rd down thanks to Stanley Richard. Gardere then throws an INT to Frazier and A&M exploits the short field for another Lewis TD. A&M dominating on the ground as Robert Wilson throwing some crushing blocks. The PAT shows a lot of Ags in the UT section. Ags up 14-0. The speedy Adrian Walker takes the KO for a big return setting up the UT scoring drive. This drive is interrupted by an explanation of the Ag 12th man tradition @1922. Gardere takes it to the end zone on a 50 yard run up the gut as the A&M players had no idea who had the ball until the last moment. Peter the Great <b>...</b>

1991 Cotton Bowl - Second Half (1.1.91)
Second Half: The 2nd half begins with a long KO return by speedy Kevin Williams. UT responds with 2 sacks, Jeter solo and a team sack. UT's DL did play better than most people remember. Gardere gets the ball back and scampers for a nice gain being chased by man-grizzly Russell Maryland , nice block by Samuels. Gardere then throws a weak pass , INT by Darrin Smith of Miami for a TD, 26-3, killing any and all momentum built up on the drive. So far, 3 TOs lead to 3 Miami TDs. UT gets the ball back and again starts a nice drive with a good option run by Hadnot, Samuels block and Gardere is destroyed by Maryland on the pitch. Gardere runs for a first down but is then sacked by Caesar (who mocks Oscar Giles shovel sack dance) for Miami's 7th sack , taking UT out of FG range and a 54yd attempt falls short. Dronett gets a nice tackle , described as a "shutter [censored]". This is followed by the famous long TD to Randall Hill where he runs into the tunnel and does his gunslinger routine. Hill, the one who "dreams of running with cheetahs and being pulled over by cop cars". 33-3 Miami . UT continues to play hard but a key dropped pass on a drive, the 8th sack and then a fumble rip of Gardere kills that drive. The 4th quarter had UT's 5th sack of Miami but on 3rd and 17, they hit a long pass, then get a TD pass to their TE. Miami has the xp blocked by Dronett which snaps Huerta's NCAA record 143 streak. 39-3. Miami intercepts Gardere again, setting up a long TD run by their <b>...</b>
